Tonight (Feb. 5) All Elite Wrestling comes our way from the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama!
On the last episode, Jon Moxley debuted a sick eye patch, Britt Baker dropped some truth bombs, Hangman Page got drunk and PAC got his very own troll bridge.
Advertised for tonight:
- MJF gives Cody ten lashes
- Omega/Page & The Young Bucks versus The Butcher, The Blade & The Lucha Bros
- Jon Moxley versus Ortiz
- Britt Baker versus Yuka Sakazaki
Here are five questions about AEW tonight:
1) Cody takes ten lashes, but what happens to MJF?
Week’s ago Cody agreed to MJF’s stipulations to gain his match against his betrayer at Revolution. Ten lashes seems extreme, but Cody graciously agreed knowing that MJF thought he could get out of this match by including such an extreme stipulation. Although Cody has been unable to touch MJF for weeks due to another stipulation, he’s no dummy and got his boys in The Elite to help him terrorize his opponent. MJF thought he was being smart using these tactics against Cody, but at every opportunity Cody has used his tactics against him. Instead of looking clever, MJF has looked a fool.
Tonight we finally see Cody take the lashes, but after the past few weeks of terrorizing MJF I can’t imagine that Cody doesn’t have something else up his sleeve. MJF wants to HURT Cody. These lashes will have some stank on them. Possibly MJF and Wardlow are so focused on hurting Cody that they don’t see his back-up coming for them? Or perhaps the best revenge and mindf*ck Cody can give to MJF is to take all ten lashes like a champ uttering no sound and remaining stoic. I can picture perfectly the epic temper tantrum from MJF should Cody receive the lashes with poise.
This is definitely another moment for Cody to get inside MJF’s head without raising a single finger.
2) Will Hangman’s inner turmoil cost The Elite their match?
Last week Hangman sloppily helped his friends during their post match brawl. He also almost started a fight with them due to his drunken antics. He even tried to give beer to one of The Bucks! The audacity!
In addition to being one half of the tag team champions, Kenny Omega is also a full time Hangman apologist. Awkward for him to say the least.
Tonight The Elite face four ruthless opponents - any distraction could spell doom for the Elite! Will they be able to keep their drama out of the ring long enough to secure the win?
I doubt it. It’s clear we’re on the slow train toward an official Elite breakup and a future tag team championship bout between The Bucks and Omega/Hangman. Having them lose this match would be yet another stop toward the inevitable.
3) What is happening with The Nightmare Collective?
A lackluster debut, several lost matches, two mysterious therapy sessions and a chaotic Dark match ending in betrayal.
...
WTF IS GOING ON WITH THE NIGHTMARE COLLECTIVE???
Are they breaking up? Are they good guys? Are they bad guys? Why does Brandi talk to a teddy bear? What does Kong do with all the hair? Will they break up and form two new tag teams - Brandi & Kong versus Luthor & Mel? What? Is? Happening????
This may all be confusing AF, but it’s truly the most interesting stuff AEW has done with The Collective and I want to see more!
4) Are we going to see Moxley fight his way through the entire Inner Circle?
Last week Moxley not only called out Jericho for being a coward, but he helped to stop the Inner Circle’s beat down of fellow emo boi, Darby Allin.
Moxley is one man with an eye patch and he managed to send the entire Inner Circle running! Some muscle Hager is.
With four episodes of AEW before Revolution and plenty of Jericho/Moxley promos already in the bag it would be interesting to see Moxley take on the faction one by one in his pursuit of the championship.
Plus, then maybe we get to see Hager do...I don’t know...ANYTHING.
Regardless of the long term plan here Ortiz vs. Moxley is going to be fun. They are both nuts, love blood and seemingly have no pain receptors.
I smell an ending full of shenanigans and baseball bats.
5) What amazing and 100% true thing will Britt Baker say tonight?
Eternally here for Britt Baker taking old white men to task on live TV.
She called JR a “sloppy BBQ sauce sales rep who can’t even get our rosters names straight.”
You say she’s a heel? I say she’s a hero.
Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions.
