Tonight (Feb. 26) All Elite Wrestling comes our way from the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, Missouri. Last week The Young Bucks secured their championship match for Revolution, Nyla Rose, new AEW women’s champion, cut a promo that quickly caught the attention of the women’s locker room, Jeff Cobb lost on his AEW debut and Cody defeated Wardlow in an epic, bloody cage match.
Advertised for tonight:
- Jon Moxley & Chris Jericho weigh in for Revolution’s AEW championship bout
- Kenny Omega versus PAC (Iron Man Match)
- Jurassic Express versus Inner Circle (6-Man Tag)
- Best Friends versus The Butcher & The Blade
Here are five questions about AEW tonight:
1) How will Moxley torment Jericho one final time?
Here we finally are. Jericho versus Moxley at last. Jericho has thrown every thing at Moxley to try and throw him off his game before their match. He tried to bribe him with a fancy car. He blinded him. He sent The Inner Circle after him. He hired an assassin.
And still, Moxley remains, undeterred and unusually focused.
Despite all his efforts it seems Moxley is the one under Jericho’s skin and in Jericho’s head. Tonight it’s the last time they’ll face off before Revolution and I, for one, can’t wait to see what Moxley does. I just hope it finally involves that car!
2) How smart was it for Omega to agree to this match before Revolution?
Despite being one half of the AEW tag team champions, Kenny Omega has not been able to escape the eye of his former singles rival, PAC - and neither have his loved ones. PAC, bastard-ly as ever, kept drawing Omega’s attention away from his tag team duties by harassing, assaulting and semi kidnapping his friends and girlfriend. It was an effective strategy, as now Omega is setting aside his tag team responsibilities - mere days away from Revolution - to fight PAC in an Iron Man match. Not exactly a winning strategy.
If Kenny loses this match, he goes into Saturday with a bruised ego and probably a bruised body. If he wins the match there is still that bruised body to deal with. The Young Bucks are a formidable tag team. Not only are they incredible wrestlers, but they are hungry for the tag belts and furious at their Elite counterparts.
You thought Hangman’s drinking was the problem? I think it’s Omega’s ego.
3) Will we learn more about the haphazard match-up between AEW women’s champion Nyla Rose and Kris Statlander?
Is a Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander match for the AEW women’s championship exciting? Heck yes! Is it disappointing that yet another women’s championship match has been thrown together before a PPV with little to no build up? Also, heck yes!
Sure, Kris Statlander as the number 2 ranked female makes her the perfect choice to face the champion. Logically that makes sense, but frankly, it sucks. Every other match on the card has not only gotten weekly screen time to build up excitement for the match, but has a story line for the audience to get invested in. I mean, Moxley lost a friggin’ eye!
In theory, I like the rankings, but if they are just an excuse/back up plan for poor creative I could live without it.
They have one show to hype this match up. Let’s see if they can do it.
4) How much gloating will MJF have to endure from Cody?
Last week’s episode ended with Cody covered in his own blood standing on top of a steel cage celebrating his victory over Wardlow. MJF’s plan to avoid Cody at Revolution have failed.
Cody definitely is going to gloat.
5) Will The Dark Order look to recruit the losers of either tag team match?
The Exalted One is looming. Christopher Daniels is missing. The Dark Order is rising. There are rumors that a big Dark Order reveal is in the works for Revolution so it would make sense for them to show up on Dynamite to do one last round of recruiting. They defeated The Stronghearts soundly last night and while they are not scheduled to fight tonight, when have The Dark Order ever needed an invitation?
Ego’s are bruised after that Battle Royal. Seems like prime recruiting time to me!
Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions before Revolution this Saturday!
