There was a big surprise on last night’s (Feb. 12) episode of Dynamite when Jeff Cobb appeared and hit Jon Moxley with his finishing move. Cobb is advertised for a one-on-one match with Moxley next week on Dynamite.
Considering that he was given the “Jeff Cobb is All Elite” treatment from AEW’s twitter, it seemed logical to conclude that Cobb signed a contract with AEW.
But that’s not the case according to Dave Meltzer, who spoke about Cobb’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Jeff Cobb has not signed a contract. He’s gonna be doing all of the shows that he’s advertised to do. At this point he’s in for an angle.”
”He may sign with them, but he was looking at being a free agent and working New Japan as much as he can.”
”Ever since his contract with Ring of Honor ended, they’ve wanted him, and they’ve wanted him as a full-timer, but right now he’s not signed a contract.”
So don’t get your hopes up too much yet about seeing Jeff Cobb every single week on AEW television. It sounds like he’s in for the angle with Moxley, and there’s nothing guaranteed after that.
Do you prefer Cobb remaining a free agent, or would you rather see him as a full time member of the AEW roster?
