The PPV portion of AEW’s Full Gear PPV kicked off with a match had pencilled in as the favorite for match of the night... the final of the World Title Eliminator between former tag partners Kenny Omega & Hangman Page.
It started with an Impact Wrestling crossover of sorts, as Omega’s long-time friend Don Callis joined the commentary team.
Page & Omega worked hard to fulfill expectations from the start. Hangman was in control early...
... but when he took the action to the floor, Kenny went high risk and gained the upper hand.
They traded big shots throughout the fast-paced 20 minute affair...
... and considering the emotional build, the match was relatively free of drama. The finish saw Page try and fail to fight of the One Winged Angel as Omega won with a clean pinfall.
Omega awaits the winner of tonight’s main event, and will look to finally reach the top of the AEW mountain possibly as soon as next year’s Revolution event. Hangman will undoubtedly head back into the bottle, as his existential quest continues.
