Kevin Owens is back in NXT tonight. It’s mainly to fill in on commentary while Wade Barrett is away. But they decided to get a little more mileage out of the former NXT champion by booking a KO Show segment.
The show’s guest was North American champion Leon Ruff. Owens used this time to encourage Leon to show confidence and pride. Because the people in the locker room can sniff out doubt so don’t show it.
Ruff showed that confidence, but in doing that, he mentioned Johnny Gargano. KO knew that this meant. He knew naming someone in a talk show segment means that person is going to come out. And that’s what happened.
Gargano came down and talked his trash, comparing the show to Punk’d because of how ridiculous it was. (KO made sure to call him out on his very out of date reference.) Then of course, once again predicted by Kevin, Damian Priest came out.
When Priest reminded Ruff he said he’d defend his title against both Damian and Johnny last week, KO made his last comment. He wished there was someone like former SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long who could walk out and make this match.
William Regal fulfilled that wish, booking the triple threat for WarGames, and threw in a “playa” to give us that Teddy Long flavor.
NOW HOLD ON A MINUTE, PLAYA!#WWENXT GM @RealKingRegal just made a match on the #KOShow!— WWE (@WWE) November 26, 2020
At #NXTTakeOver: WarGames, @LEONRUFF_ will go one-on-one..nope, actually, it will be a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH for the @WWENXT North American Championship with @JohnnyGargano & @ArcherOfInfamy! pic.twitter.com/PU1pIH2Xru
It was pretty obvious that we were going to get this triple threat. Kevin Owens helped make it official.
