With two tweets, Thunder Rosa & Britt Baker have the best women’s feud in AEW history

Yesterday (Nov. 13), AEW announced that Serena Deeb would defend the NWA Women’s title against Thunder Rosa on Dynamite this upcoming Wednesday. Rosa, who is under contract to Billy Corgan’s NWA, is also booked for next Tuesday’s Dark.

AEW’s handling of their women’s division remains a hot topic among wrestling fans, and that Rosa and the NWA belt continue to get as much if not more television time than the company’s own title and roster is noteworthy.

It’s also the backdrop of the ‘Reality’ Era shots Britt Baker and Rosa exchanged after the Mexican star hyped herself and her rematch with Deeb on Twitter.

There’s material to play “work or shoot?” with there, with enough vitriol to make us wonder if there’s real heat behind the jabs.

It’s also instantly more compelling than just about any women’s program AEW’s ever run. Hikaru Shida & Nyla Rose are probably the longest feud in the company’s history but they have never been given much of a story to go with it (and one EVP thinks it didn’t need one). And Brandi Rhodes continues to try to make her character happen, but it’s still not working for a lot of people - this writer included.

I’m not sure a Britt Baker/Thunder Rosa match would be good, but with less than 560 characters, they’ve convinced me they actually dislike each other. That’s an important part of a compelling program, and one Ivelisse match aside, is something that’s been missing from AEW’s women’s scene.

So I’m sold. And it doesn’t look like I’m alone...

I’ll add my GIF reaction...

And ask y’all - is this the start of AEW’s first great women’s feud?
