AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR NOV. 11

Don’t talk of dust and roses, or should we powder our noses? Don’t live for last year’s capers. Give me steel, give me steel, give me pulses unreal, give me a pro wrestling show to liveblog, folks.

The show opens with a Veteran’s Day graphic.

Thence to the intro video.

Team Taz make their entrance and Taz gets on the mic.

He says we’re about to see the FTW World Champion Brian Cage wrestle live right here, right now. (Van Halen is kicking ass in America?)

He points out that Skateboard Sting, er, Darby Allin is hanging out in the bleachers and watching, and he says Team Taz’ll kick his ass and kick Cody Rhodes’ ass, and Cage is about to wrestle a man who respects those who came before him, unlike Darby. Cage has Matt Sydal tonight, and he and Darby have a lot in common, with big victories over mega stars— Allin has beaten Rhodes, and Sydal has beaten Chris Jericho.

(Sydal/Jericho happened at WWE Fatal Four-Way in 2010, if you’re as curious as I was.)

Brian Cage vs. Matt Sydal

Sydal jawing at Cage, clearly on about some third eye business. Brian with a military press but Matt uses his speed and agility to slip out and start probing kicks in there. Cage turns him around, corner lariats, hammer whip, overhead belly-to-belly suplex and Matt is having a bad time. Sydal off the ropes with kicks but he gets caught by a hip toss backbreaker!

Following it up with a pendulum backbreaker for two, up and over, Matt gets another dropkick but the Machine destroys him with a lariat! Holding Sydal in front of him, curling him a half dozen times, Cage hits a standing fallaway slam but can’t put Matt away! Trading strikes, Sydal fighting back into it, whip reversed, float over, roundhouse kick but Brian shoves him into the corner as a followup!

Uppercuts and kicks, German suplex, Sydal lands on his feet but his Frankensteiner is blocked! off the ropes, Cage goes for one of his own and Matt turns it into a powerbomb! Brian out to the stage, Sydal goes up top... METEORA ON THE STAGE! Back inside, counter a Doctor Bomb, Cage blocks the followup so Matt kicks his legs out from under him and gets the roundhouse to set up a Lightning Spiral... NO GOOD!

Back and forth, neither man able to land a big move, Sydal hits a rolling solebutt! Sets up a roundhouse, another Lightning Spiral countered and Cage hits the northern lariat! Sydal with a snap Hurricanrana... SO CLOSE! Up top, Matt dives and gets caught...

Brian Cage wins by pinfall after plucking Matt Sydal out of midair and hitting Drill Claw.

Post-match, Ricky Starks gets on the mic and talks about how the next step for Team Taz is the TNT Championship, and if you step in their way, they put you in the grave.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Cody Rhodes makes his entrance.

He gets on the mic and talks about the weather, asking the crowd if they’re okay. He congratulates Darby Allin on his title win and says that he’s not going to be seeking a rematch at this time because there’s another loss on his record that he wants to be vindicated of, and that’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

A woman in red comes up behind Cody while he’s talking, and when he turns and asks if he can help her, she takes the mic and says she doesn’t know. She calls Rhodes out for lying to the audience, and introduces herself as Jade Hargill. She’s the total package and she’s been on the sidelines studying her competition, and she heard Cody call himself the giant killer.

She asks what Rhodes knows about giants, seeing as there’s nothing giant about him. She knows a real giant, though, and Cody’s voice doesn’t echo loud enough to wake him. So the next time he feels the need to think out loud, he should keep that shit to himself. She tells Rhodes to watch his back because she’s nothing to play with.

Oh, and by the way, congratulations on the name, but she guesses he didn’t have the balls to keep going by one name. That giant is the real star, and his name is... SHAQ!

Brandi Rhodes comes out real agitated and gets in Hargill’s face, telling her to never talk to her husband like that again, and she can leave and not come back unless Brandi calls for her. She flips her hair and goes to leave and Jane taps Brandi on the butt, which brings Jerry Lynn(!) out to keep the peace!

Brian Cage takes advantage of the chaos to attack Cody Rhodes and powerbomb him! Ricky Starks is here too, but before they can double-team him, Darby Allin’s music hits and he comes to the ring wearing a jacket studded with thumbtacks for the save! Cody recovers and they run the heels off!

Will Hobbs joins the party late but manages to stop Team Taz from tryin anything else. He shakes hands with the other babyfaces and we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of Omega/Page from Full Gear.

Jon Moxley is interviewed backstage.

He realized on Saturday that he couldn’t say the words “I Quit” and he’s grown to understand that this championship represents everybody that can’t pay their bills, everybody that’s disenfranchised, every kid that gets made fun of for loving pro wrestling. He can’t quit and he won’t quit and he’s got a big challenge up ahead in Kenny Omega.

He’s beat him once, but to beat him twice? That takes somebody real special, and lucky for him, right now, he’s the best wrestler in the world. He’s just a man, and one day somebody’ll shut his lights off, and maybe that’ll be Kenny, but good luck.

We’re informed the match will be happening on December 2.

Butcher and the Blade (Andy Williams & Pepper Parks) vs. Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall) (Bunkhouse Match)

Marshall kicks things off with a plancha and we got hot and heavy brawling! QT takes his belt off but Parks gets it away from him and whips him with it while Williams puts Rhodes into a ringpost! Dustin hits the Final Cut on a chair! Brawling continues, Rhodes gets a bullrope and brings it in the ring and wraps it around Pepper’s neck!

Butcher comes in, Bunny handcuffs Dustin to the turnbuckles and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Back from commercial, Marshall is bleeding and Bunny is clawing at his face! Butcher and Blade take a minute to theselves in the ring, posing and taunting, but Rhodes comes i with righteous fury, punches and a Flip, Flop, & Fly double lariat! Ladder in hand, Dustin takes Williams out with it, and blasts Parks in the head!

Andy cracks a chair across Dustin’s face and follows after him on the floor, whipping him with a belt! Rhodes with kendo stick shots in return, taking Butcher around the stage, but he smashes Dustin into the guardrail of some production steps. Up to the catwalk, Williams kicks a barricade down but Marshall blasts him with a fire extinguisher... DUSTIN RHODES BULLDOG OFF THE CATWALK AND THROUGH PLYWOOD SET DRESSING!

QT and Pepper in the ring, bleeding, hammering each other with punches, Marshall hits a leaping lariat and wallops Blade with a trash can lid! Setting the ladder up, climbing it... ELBOW DROP FROM THE TOP OF THE LADDER CAN’T KEEP PEPPER PARKS DOWN! Butcher in, Bossman Slam on Marshall, Rhodes comes in to play equalizer and drops Pepper with the snap scoop powerslam!

Yoshi Tonic on Butcher, no good, Blade blindsides Dustin with a chain to the throat! Parks covered in blood, drawing Dustin up... SUPLEX / POWERBOMB COMBO HITS BUT QT BREAKS IT UP WITH A TRASH CAN LID! Andy destroys Marshall with a lariat! Wrapping a chain around his fist, waiting, QT ducks and grabs the chain, using it to hit an Ace Crusher! PEPPER PARKS KICKS HIM IN THE GENTLEMAN’S AREA!

Chair in hand, Bunny running interference, Marshall ducks and Pepper has to stop short of blasting his wife! QT hits him from behind and he takes Bunny out anyway! Natural Nightmares take control with a bullrope shot from Rhodes...

Natural Nightmares win by pinfall with an Ace Crusher from QT Marshall on Pepper Parks.

Matt Hardy gets a video package about his feud with Sammy Guevara.

He says he’s never had a feud with such pain and rage and he’s grown to respect Sammy for his resilience and toughness. When he got injured at All Out, his confidence took a shot, and that’s why he had to do what he did to Guevara, to break him and make him obsolete. He tells Sammy he’s going to become a bigger star because of it and warns him not to squander what he’s been given.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, it’s time for Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Wardlow to be inducted into the Inner Circle.

Chris Jericho makes his entrance first and takes a stand at a podium set up in the ring. First he introduces the current members of the Inner Circle, minus Sammy Guevara, who’s missing. Chris confers with the other guys, saying he talked to Sammy at the hospital and he knew this was happening tonight, but with no Guevara, they move on.

MJF and Wardlow make their entrances.

Friedman takes the podium and apologizes for being so emotional. He talks about being in the industry for five long years and working off “a small loan” of one million dollars from his father. He talks about the pressure he’s been under, the pressure that made him a diamond, and he’s got a poem written to commemorate the occasion.

Ortiz raises his objections to Sammy joining and Jericho says it’s on him, MJF beat him to get into the Inner Circle, but he’s been doing this for 30 years and he knows the Inner Circle will be stronger than ever with Max as part of the stable. He tells Ortiz that he WILL make it work because they’re a team.

MJF says they’re not just here to celebrate his induction, though, they’re here to celebrate Y2J’s 50th birthday! Balloons are released and MJF has a big announcement— they’re going to Vegas next week, on him! He passes tickets out to the team and sings Jericho a happy birthday.

The new Inner Circle link arms and Santana tries to comfort Ortiz as we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of Young Bucks vs. FTR from Full Gear.

The Bucks are interviewed outside of their locker room.

Asked what’s next, they say they went through hell to get the tag titles and it’s hard to see what’s next, but the world wants to see a rematch for sure. Matt Jackson brings up indie tag team Top Flight and says if they want an opportunity, they have a match on Dynamite next week.

Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears

Hard-hitting out the gates, trading strikes, brawling to the floor, Sky drops Spears with a lariat and throws him back inside! Up top, Shawn cuts him off with a superplex and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Spears in control, Sky counters C4 with an arm drag, to the floor, slingshot into a plancha! Back inside, slingshot Ace Crusher... NOPE! Jockeying for position over the ropes, Scorpio pulls him out of the ring, whip reversed, leapfrog over the steps, right hand, dive off the steps and Shawn cuts him out of midair with a superkick!

Up on the steps... SIDE SLAM! Back inside, fireman’s carry, Sky slips out and applies a Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring! Spears crawling, desperate, Tully Blanchard slips some kind of back in the ring and Shawn gets the ropes for the break! Blanchard distracts referee Bryce Remsburg while Spears gets the slug. Tully passes one to Sky as well but he throws it away, Shawn loads his fist...

Shawn Spears wins by pinfall with a loaded punch.

Post-match, Remsburg checks Shawn’s glove but can’t find anything.

Kenny Omega is supposed to be interviewed but he’s nowhere to be found.

We cut to him in a parking lot on the phone when an interview finds him.

He says he’s had to live with the news that he’s going to have his title match on December 2 for a few days now. He talks about how he needs the title to take his rightful spot as best wrestler in the world back from Kenny Omega. He knows everybody expected him to be the ace of AEW given his work in New Japan, and he never stopped being that good, he just needs to circle back and take his spot back.

He points out that Moxley’s victory doesn’t actually count because it was unsanctioned, and he’s ready to find out what will happen when they have a real, normal, pro wrestling match.

Red Velvet vs. Tay Conti

Looking for pins early, arm drags, side headlock, shot off, Conti feeling confident but she runs into a leg lariat and a standing moonsault from Velvet! Choke in the corner, Tay with judo shoulder throws to recover from it. Red ducks a roundhouse but eats the black magic crescent kick, cover and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Velvet sidesteps a charge and drops Conti with a series of lariats and a back elbow! Wheelbarrow bulldog, fired up, double knees to the back! Corner knee, Stunner, stereo roundhouse kicks and Anna Jay slides a chair to Tay! Red kicks the chair away, gets a leg lariat, cover, close but no cigar! Off the ropes, kick misses, Conti grabs a wrist and rolls through for a pump kick!

Gory Special applied, spin it out...

Tay Conti wins by pinfall with a Gory Special spun out into a knee strike.

Dark Order are seen briefly in the entrance tunnel, looking on.

The Inner Circle are interviewed backstage, crowing about their trip to Vegas when Sammy Guevara rolls up.

He says he got an email from MJF telling him to go to the beach. Max says he sent a second email to tell him to come to the arena, and Jericho plays peacemaker, telling Sammy they’re all going to Vegas and it’s cool. Friedman gives Sammy a ticket and says it’s on him and he really did send the other email, but he comes short of an actual apology.

Commentary hypes up next week’s show for us.

Eddie Kingston makes his entrance, somber and telling the crowd he knows his name and he doesn’t need anyone cheering it.

At Full Gear, your world champion Jon Moxley made him say he quits, and he has to live with that, but he’ll never stop wrestling and he will be world’s champion. Now, to pressing matters, him being the leader of violent men and women that he is, they’re gonna have Penta vs. Fenix next and you’re gonna see two of the greatest luchadors ever to do it.

Rey Fenix makes his entrance and we go to break.

Penta el Zero M vs. Rey Fenix

Charging in, Fenix with a Matrix evasion into a dropkick, victory roll pin, Penta hits a superkick! Pump kick from Rey, crescent kick gets an enzuigiri, stalemate! Double lariat, roll through, wheelbarrow victory roll, reverse, sunset flip, no dice! Duck a lariat, float over arm drag, Penta to the floor!

Up and over sends Fenix to the floor, Pentagon gives us the Cero Miedo, off the ropes, rolling thunder dropkick from Rey! Off the ropes, Penta catches him into a standing cross kneelock and then tears his mask open! Choking him in the ropes, whip across, a superkick cuts Fenix down! Biting his mask, continuing to pull at it with a reverse chinlock applied, grinding him down as we go to break.

Back from commercial, Penta still in control, looking for the package piledriver but Fenix escapes and gets a nearfall! Boot up in the corner, pass into the corner, solebutt connects! Charging in, Penta puts him on the stage and Fenix has to take a breather... BRILLO FENIX INTO A HURRICANRANA FOR A NEARFALL!

Springboard Ace Crusher, slow to capitalize... NOPE! Rey returning the favor, tearing Penta’s mask open and punching away at his forehead! Both men to their feet, trading punches, off the ropes, rolling thunder reversed... FLIP INVERTED DDT WHAT THE HELL! FENIX KICKS OUT! Penta clutches him again but Fenix reverses with a tijeras!

Off the ropes... TORNILLO TAKES PENTAGON OUT! Back inside, Rey with a senton atomico off the top... SO CLOSE! Fireman’s carry, Penta slips out to the apron, brings Fenix over, calls for it, shoved away, he hits a superkick and locks the underhooks... PACKAGE PILEDRIVER ON THE APRON MY GOD! HE FOLLOWS IT UP WITH A FLIP PILEDRIVER ON THE FLOOR!

Back inside, Penta refuses to just cover him, flashing the Cero Miedo, underhooks...

Penta el Zero M wins by pinfall with the package piledriver.

Eddie Kingston gets up from commentary, saying we have some time left.

He mocks “This is awesome!” and “Fight forever!” chants and puts Lucha Brothers over as two of the best in the world. He says his best friend Penta showed his brother who’s boss and kicks Fenix out of the ring. He says he doesn’t need that dead weight Fenix—

PAC IS BACK Y’ALL! THE BASTARD IS HERE!

He gets on the mic and calls Eddie out, asking if he thought he’d be gone forever. He tells him the Bastard is back and he’s made a very big mistake, and we get a pull-apart brawl!

Commentary tells us that we’re getting PAC vs. Pepper “Blade” Parks next week.

Eddie jaws at Jerry Lynn and PAC charges him again!

That’s the show, folks!
