AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 7
FYI: we’re short-staffed tonight, so this guy is multi-tasking and doing a three screen gimmick to update both live blogs. Expect this to be less detailed and a little slower to update as a result (and with a significantly greater risk of incorrectly identified moves without Claire’s expertise. Also, no song lyrics). We’ll be back to full strength next Wednesday. Thanks for bearing with us.
The opening is a celebration of Chris Jericho, fitting for a night when we’re celebrating Chris Jericho. The roster talks about his legacy and influence.
Will Hobbs vs. Brian Cage
Ricky Starks and Taz on commentary for this FTW title bout.
Back and forth hoss fight as the crowd is firmly behind Hobbs from the start. He gets a nearfall off a sequence that ends with a sitout spinebuster. Cage comes back and gets two off a pumphandle driver. They trade Germans, then do the spot where they both clothesline each other down. After another spinebuster, Will heads up top but misses the splash. Cage grabs the Drill Claw.

Afterwards, Starks gets in the ring and Taz puts Hobbs over and offers to let him join the team... or else. Darby Allin makes the save. He backs Team Taz up with his skatebaord, and Taz warns that one day he’s gonna learn to stay out of their business.
Slash, Dennis Miller, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Bully Ray and Ted Irvine are in the next Jericho video.
Lance Archer with a pre-tape promo warning Moxley that he’s had a lot of time to prepare and isn’t like his other challengers. Their title match is next week.
FTR vs. TH2
This is another 20 minute “Brush With Greatness” challenge for the Tag titles. The Young Bucks are watching from the back.
Jack Evans & Angelico start strong, but a Tully Blanchard distraction creates an opening for Cash Wheeler to knock Evans crotch-first on the top rope. He and Dax Harwood go to work on the challengers. Jack’s in peril as the champ’s target his leg. He’s able to trip up Cash after getting a rope break on a submission, and Angelico comes in hot. TH2 gets to show off their offense before a back-and-forth final sequence that ends with a superplex and splash on Evans.

The Young Bucks superkick the cameraman filming them after the match.
Best Friends are out and mock the champs, showing an image of them as “weenies” on the ‘tron. The #1 contenders announce they’re getting their title shot next week. Dax & Cash attack, but Best Friends stand tall.
MJF talks about meeting Jericho for the first time and getting advice from him. Shaquille O’Neal, Gene Simmons, Don Callis, Lars Ulrich and DDP are in the next celeb tribute package.
We see some hype for the Dog Collar match. Arn Anderson says Cody accepted without realizing it could end his career.
Brodie Lee vs. Cody
Anna Jay and John Silver are out with the champ; Brandi Rhodes and Arn Anderson with the challenger. Cody charges at the bell and ends up taking out Silver, who’s the first person to bleed. The Dark Order minion also gets drop kicked off a chair through the barricade before Jay takes him to the back.
A DDT onto the chain busts Cody open. He slides between Lee’s legs on a whip and uses the chain to the crotch Mr. Brodie, then wraps the chain around the champ’s neck while delivering a side Russian leg sweep. Cody’s fired up, but after hitting a dive, Lee uses the chain to send him flying over the barricade.
A table comes into play, and after nailing a cutter on the floor, Cody package piledrives Lee through the table. Brodie is busted open now, too. Cody taunts him, and when Lee charges he gets punched in the face with the chain, then whipped with it. They each take turn choking the other. After Lee gets two off a slam, he grabs a chair and wings it at Arn! Double-A wants in, and when Alex Reynolds shows up he gets the spinebuster. Brodie hits the Hall of Famer with the chain, and Cody tries for the flash pin but can’t get three.
They battle on the turnbuckles, and that ends with a superplex by Lee. They brawl on their knees, rising to their feet. Cody with Final Cut, then he wraps the chain all around Brodie’s bloody face. Cross Rhodes! New champ!

Tony Schiavone in the ring to talk to the two-time champ. Cody says he’s not going to the dark side despite his new look. He’s sticking with the people!
Cody wants to defend the title next week on the anniversary show, but against who? Orange Cassidy comes on stage, and - after an exchange of thumbs ups - that’s your match.
Hangman Page, Wardlow and Colt Cabana are officially in the #1 contender tournament, joining Jungle Boy, Kenny Omega and Rey Fenix. Alex Marvez interviews Omega backstage. Kenny’s excited to be back as a singles guy. He’s won every tournament in the world, and he can’t wait to get his hands on the AEW strap.
Big Swole vs. Serena Deeb
This is Swole’s power game vs. Deeb’s technical skill. The veteran targets the arm. After a commercial they exchange big shots and pinning predicaments. Swole gets the last ones after a headbutt and spinning strike.
Big Swole def. Serena Deeb via pinfall
Moxley promo from a bar. He tells Archer that to win the belt he’ll have to rip it off his dead body. And maybe he will! It’s like Lance says, everybody dies.
Lance Archer, Kevin Smith, Eli Roth, Steel Panther, Ultimo Dragon, Paul Stanley, Gabriel Iglesias and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. are the next batch of good brothers to wish Jericho happy anniversary.
Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs. Luther & Serpentico
Inner Circle out with the celebrant and his Real American partner. And they’re there because when Sammy Guevara, Santana & Ortiz check on Jericho & Hager after a flurry, Luther throws Serpentico onto them, then flips off the top himself to wipe them all out.
Jericho sold for his friend, and took double-team offense from both opponents until Hager made the save. Then Jericho took a bat shot from Luther, and was almost pinned after a big boot.
Guevara got on the apron and got knocked off, but the distraction let his mentor recover and hit Judas Effect on Luther.
Chris Jericho & Jake Hager def. Luther & Serpentico via pinfall
Jericho got on the mic and started to talk about his 30 years in the business, but was interrupted by MJF.
The young heel says he’s not out to steal the GOAT’s spotlight, he just wants to be a part of the celebration. He brings out Clownico de Clown as proof, and next week he’s going to make a career-defining announcement and he wants Jericho to be there for it. MJF says Clownico also has a gift for Jericho. It’s a picture of MJF. Jericho smashes it over the clown’s head and hits Clownico with Judas Effect. He and MJF start screaming at each other... then they both bust out laughing.
All the heels come to the ring and there’s a bubbly celebration. Credits roll, with every one listed as Jericho himself.
