MLW Roundup: The Restart, IWA Puerto Rico alliance, more!

Let’s catch up on the week’s news in MLW and preview the latest episode of MLW Underground.

The Restart

If you’ve been sleeping the past few days, we have a surprise for you. MLW announced November 18 to return for The Restart. They did so with a creative workaround of Pulp Fusion. In lieu of a regular episode, Alexander Hammerstone and the boys ran roughshod to take back MLW headquarters. It was fantastic. Check out the video and details here.

The Contra Unit was forced to retreat, but retaliation is coming. As for Contra’s inside mole, Salina de la Renta has no remorse about doing MLW dirty.

Salina has a simple motto.

Salina is clearly content to play both sides as long as she comes out on top.

Salina sure is playing with fire. If she’s not careful, there won’t be any sides left for manipulation. Promociones Dorado is going to have to sign some major talent. No matter what happened in the past, forgiveness is easier if she can bring ratings and revenue to benefit MLW.

For the sake of curiosity, the planned rundown for Pulp Fusion was supposed to be:

  • Alicia Atout interviews Court Bauer to get the exclusive on #TheRestart and the date for a return... plus how does MLW plan to deal with CONTRA?
  • What does Salina de la Renta have to say about her traitorous actions? The Empresaria unleashes like never before!
  • Alex Hammerstone readies for The Restart… and you’ll never guess who he has recruited to join the renegades as MLW rises up against CONTRA.
  • Savio Vega talks about the MLW/IWA Puerto Rico strategic alliance and what’s on the future.
  • Los Parks check in with some Halloween party do’s and don’ts.
  • Bu Ku Dao talks about his upcoming Major League Wrestling debut.
  • Alicia Atout scores a big interview!
  • King Mo spars with a famous boxer and proves he’s the King of Knockouts again!
  • The reigning World Tag Team Champions Ross and Marshall Von Erich have a special message for Von Erich Nation.
  • Gino Medina talks about social distancing while trick or treating with a certain mamacita.

Perhaps that episode can air next week with a few alterations. Halloween would have passed, but I still want to hear advice from Los Parks. I’m sure LA Park could provide sage wisdom for any situation.

MLW Underground

On the latest old school edition of MLW Underground, Mike Awesome gets his rematch against Steve Corrino for the World Heavyweight Championship. Monsta Mack and Mafia of Da Hit Squad plan to make a name for themselves against Samu and Ekmo of The Samoan Island Tribe. The third match for the show will be “Dr. Death” Steve Williams versus CW Anderson in The MLW Global Tag Crown Challenge. The preview also teases updates regarding CM Punk, Raven, Sabu, Los Maximos, and Mikey Whipwreck.

MLW’s weekly program (Fusion, Anthology, and Underground) streams on fubo Sports Network Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET and 10 pm ET, airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 10 pm ET, and is posted on YouTube Saturdays at 6:05 pm ET. You can also check out MLW streaming on DAZN. In addition, MLW is broadcast in over 20 countries.

Quick hits

MLW announced an alliance with IWA Puerto Rico. That promotion is the home to the Caribbean Heavyweight Championship that Richard Holliday has been carrying around. The talent sharing relationship will be a two-way street.

Holliday released a video statement disputing claims that Savio Vega is the true Caribbean Champion. He offered to eat some rice and beans in an effort to gain favor with the people of the Caribbean, especially the consumer niños. Holliday also threatened to melt the belt to make a new watch.

MLW announced a renewal of the TV deal with beIN SPORTS. MLW programming has frequently been the highest rated on the network.

As for the future of MLW on YouTube, CEO Court Bauer shed some light on the topic.

We’ll close with a neat hype video for Low Ki featuring music from Ghostface Killah.
