Big dummy Austin Theory quits NXT

Austin Theory has not been doing well in NXT lately.

The man has been on a bad skid, losing pretty much every match that matters. (He may have picked up a squash win at one point, but hasn’t won any match of note really since his return from the main roster.)

That continued tonight with a loss to the Thicc Boi Bronson Reed.

The match was competitive. It wasn’t a squash or anything. But like all the other matches Theory has found himself in, he lost, this time to a big splash from the big man. But that wasn’t it.

Maybe because he’s just so frustrated, maybe because he’s just plain stupid, he challenged Reed to an immediate rematch.

That was a squash match.

Reed walked back in the ring, the bell rang, and he dropped Austin with a Samoan Drop for another 1-2-3. Two pay days for Bronson. Two big Ls for Theory. But no pity for a guy who asked for it. Because that was just plain stupid.

Later, the cameras caught up with Theory in the parking lot and asked him what’s going to through his mind. That’s when he said “That’s it. I’m done. I quit.” before driving off.

Of course he doesn’t actually quit. It’s all part of the story. These losses are going to lead somewhere, likely a character tweak for the Theory character. We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

Maybe the new character won’t be dumb.
