Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Fightful notes that many wrestlers are frustrated with WWE’s plan to take the show on the road once the ThunderDome contract expires. There are concerns about more outbreaks of COVID-19 once that happens.
- On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Tegan Nox did not suffer her torn ACL during a match, practice, or training. He claims that “it just popped.”
- Game 3 of the World Series is scheduled to air on FOX on Friday night, Oct. 23, leading to speculation that SmackDown will be bumped to FS1 that night, just like last year.
- Fightful also says that prior to the global pandemic, there were talks in WWE of a new show called “NXT Underground.” It would have featured wrestlers who don’t get much time on NXT, as well as Evolve stars.
- Wrestling Inc mentioned that two Raw referees missed this week’s episode because they are in quarantine as a result of the NXT COVID-19 outbreak.
