Nightmare Collective invasion wrecks Riho vs. Kris Statlander title match

The AEW’s women’s division is in a tough spot.

Compared to AEW’s tag and men’s singles division, Riho and the rest of the company’s women are still trying to find their footing. Contrasted against NXT’s women’s division on Wednesday night and things look even worse for AEW.

Tonight (Jan. 8) Riho put her title on the line versus Kris Statlander. One week after Riho, Nyla Rose, Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida put on a fantastic performance, Statlander and the AEW Women’s champion were working behind the eight ball.

Riho versus Statlander quickly devolved into a showcase for Brandi Rhodes’ Nightmare Collective faction. Your personal feelings on AEW’s booking of their stables and the Nightmare Collective will 100% influence your perspective of the title match.

Whatever momentum Riho and Statlander could build up was quickly drowned out by Rhodes and her crew getting involved in the match.

Um yeah.

Awesome Kong is always great but Rhodes, Melanie Cruise, and the awkward debut of Dr. Luther was a little mind numbing. Riho would go on to pin Statlander with a victory roll-up after interference from Kong.

What are your thoughts on the Nightmare Collective? How can AEW improve their women’s division overall?
