AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 8

The tough of the track, with the wind and the rain that’s beating down on your back. Your heart’s beating loud and goes on getting louder and goes on even more ‘til the sound is ringing in your head. With every step you tread, and every breath you take, determination makes you run never stop, but me, I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show, folks.

The show opens with a recap of Chris Jericho’s offer to Jon Moxley to join the Inner Circle, including the BRAND NEW CAR.

”Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Quen and Page to start, a bit of mat grappling from the Hangman sets up a shoulder block, drop down, leapfrog, roll and a kip-up and into the stalemate! Adam in with a chop, straight suplex, Marq lands on his feet and hits a dropkick, tag to Kassidy. Clear the apron, straight suplex, cover for one. Double whip, Manhattan Drop, enzuigiri, camel clutch into a double stomp and the Private Party are running hot!

Double whip, Hangman charges through, suplexes Quen into Isiah! Omega tags in, chops ahoy, back to Page, quick tags, both Kenny and Kassidy are down and out and make the tags! Marq clears house, dives on both sides, corkscrew tope! Back inside, 450 splash, tag made, Private Party double-teaming, Omega makes the save! Running wild, assisted powerbomb sets up the V-Trigger... NOPE!

Private Party regain control, Silly String... STILL NO! Shooting star press from Quen, Omega rolls out of the way and tags Page in. Drawing Marq up, he holds him in place for Buck Shot but Quen sidesteps and Adam nails Omega with it! They wobble, recover, knee strikes set up a discus lariat... NOPE! Electric chair, Kassidy makes the save, double dropkick puts Page into Kenny!

Frankensteiner, Gin & Juice... PAGE MAKES THE SAVE! Marq slugging it out, Kenny accidentally throws him into a kick on Hangman and Quen goes to work on the Closer. V-Trigger connects, staggered, Buck Shot and a V-Trigger to the back simultaneously! Kenny calls for it, electric chair...

”Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega win by pinfall with One-Winged Angel from Omega on Marq Quen.

Backstage, PAC is choking somebody out with the Brutalizer and it turns out to be Michael Nakazawa.

He demands Kenny give him his rubber match or this will continue to happen, and he leaves. Omega rushes to the back to help his pal out, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, commentary hypes up the rest of our show.

Kris Statlander vs. Riho (c) (AEW Women’s World Championship)

Riho looking for a whip early, Statlander holds the ropes and the champ nails her with forearms. Kris with a cover, Matrix evasion, Riho with a side headlock, the Alien lifts her up and shoots her off, legsweep, handspring leg drop, charging in, boots up in the corner. Diving Frankensteiner sets the challenger on the second, off the ropes, Tiger feint kick blocked, fireman’s carry, TKO reversed into an arm drag!

Duck a lariat, Statlander catches her with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, cover... NOPE! Kris draws her up and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Statlander with a moonsault but Riho rolls away! Bridging northern lights suplex... NOT HAPPENING! Champ heads upstairs, Kris meets her with a Shotei, delayed vertical lift in the corner... SUPERPLEX! Referee Bryce Remsburg with the standing ten count as Nightmare Collective members Awesome Kong and Melanie Cruise make their way down the ramp while Brandi Rhodes disavows any responsibility on commentary.

Riho with a knee, Kris blasts her with a boot in return, champ to the apron, forearm, Cruise pulls her off the apron and throws her into the barricade while Remsburg is occupied checking on Statlander! Kris dives into her, Bryce checks on the champ on the floor and Statlander takes Kong out with a dive! Brandi makes her way down the ramp, they jaw at each other, Kris offers her jaw and the bald dude from the Nightmare Collective videos crawls out from under the ring!

Commentary identifies him as Dr. Luther and Kong runs Kris over with a lariat! Remsburg is still checking on the champ as the Nightmare Collective throw Statlander back inside. Riho recovered, they cheer her on as she climbs up top... AND HITS A DIVING CROSSBODY ON LUTHER! Diving stomp back to Statlander, cover comes up empty and the Alien with a military press but Riho reverses... CRUCIFIX DRIVER ISN’T ENOUGH TO WIN HER THE MATCH!

Running knee misses, Kris with a discus lariat, spinning Michinoku Driver... SO CLOSE! Statlander picks her back up for a Tombstone but Kong trips her and Riho capitalizes...

Riho wins by pinfall with a victory roll to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship.

Post-match, Awesome Kong attacks Statlander with a lariat and follows it up with mounted forearms until Riho tries to make the save! Cruise cuts the champ off and decks her with a right hand! Putting boots to her, Hikaru Shida joins the fray in street clothes to make the save but Britt Baker, who had been seated next to her, doesn’t lift a finger! “Big Swole” Aerial Monroe and Sonny Kiss join the babyface squad in the ring and the Nightmare Collective run off.

”Superbad” Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford get a video package hyping them up.

We see a boy from Shinedown in the front row.

Christopher Daniels makes his entrance to send us to break.

Christopher Daniels vs. Sammy Guevara

Circling, collar and elbow, Guevara with an armbar, into a hammerlock, Daniels reverses to a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block. Off the ropes, drop down, leapfrog, backflip, arm drag but Chris hangs on and traps him in an armbar! Sammy to his feet, backing him into a corner and breaking the hold. Taunting for the crowd, whip across, duck a lariat, shove off, hip toss, hip toss, body slam and Daniels is running hot.

Guevara with a cheap shot, set up a diving double stomp... NOPE! Fireman’s carry, doing squats with the vet on his shoulders, Samoan drop for two. Backflip off his back, strutting away, running kick to the nose and into a reverse chinlock. Letting go, Sammy perches, 450 splash but Daniels slips away and hits an exploder suplex! Guevara with a chop, whip reversed, back body drop from the Fallen Angel!

Dropkick and a lariat to follow, Blue Thunder Driver... NOT ENOUGH! Calling for it, underhooks, Guevara blocks Angel’s Wings, running knee, shooting star press... OUT BEFORE THREE! Backslide pin, Sammy slips out, jackknife, Chris kicks out, stereo lariats and both guys are down. Setting Daniels up top, Chris shoves him off, sidestep, huge Rock Bottom from the Fallen Angel!

Pentagon, Jr. gets on the mic and asks Daniels to show him the moonsault! Charging in, Guevara with a knee up, solebutt...

Sammy Guevara wins by pinfall with a solebutt to the back of the head.

Post-match, the Dark Order make their entrance.

Evil Uno gets on the mic and puts Daniels over as one of the best wrestlers in AEW and gives him credit for his career, even, but says the AEW faithful don’t believe in him anymore.

At this point he’s in the ring with a hand on Christopher’s shoulder and continues, saying he wants him to hear this, he can help make Daniels the man he once was. He pulls out a mask and offers it, but Daniels throws it to the mat and the Dark Order attacks! SCORPIO SKY, FRANKIE KAZARIAN, AND THE YOUNG BUCKS MAKE THE SAVE! They run the Dark Order off and Daniels goes up top... BEST MOONSAULT EVER!

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial in time for entrances.

Lucha Brothers (Pentagon, Jr. & Rey Fenix) vs. the Brotherhood (Cody & Dustin Rhodes)

Cody and Penta to start, of course we need Cero Miedo shenanigans, the removal of the glove, and so forth. Kick to the midsection, drop down slap, Pentagon off the ropes, underhooks, Cody slips out, inverted facelock, Jr. slips out and makes the tag! Cody ducks, tag to Dustin, drop down slap, off the ropes, bulldog blocked, block the Ace Crusher, catch the kick, tags made, stalemate!

Lucha Brothers with the blindside kick, Cody down and out and Penta jaws at him. Kick to the posterior, overhead club, fireman’s carry, Cody slips out, superkick of his own and a tag to Dustin! The Natural in with a lariat, back body drop puts him on the apron and Penta hits an enzuigiri. Fenix with the suicide dive, back inside, Penta up top, diving double stomp!

Penta taunts and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Pentagon in control on Dustin, kicking his hamstring while he’s tied up in the ropes. Tag to Fenix, the Natural fights back with right hands but Penta kicks his leg outta his leg and the Lucha Brothers take control again. Back body drop puts Fenix to the floor, Dustin’s down and out but the path is clear! Arn Anderson kicks a chair away from Rey, Dustin back to his feet, spinning spinebuster on Fenix!

Fired up, the Natural gets the tag! Cody with a Frankensteiner on Penta, snap scoop powerslam on Fenix, off the ropes, suicide dive for Jr.! Back in, pump kick lays Rey out, draw him up, mounted punches in the corner! The American Nightmare fired up, he takes his weight belt off and throws it into the crowd! Inverted facelock, Rey slips out, forearm, inverted Tiger feint and he lays Cody out with a crescent kick!

Ace Crusher follows, tag to Penta, Cero Miedo but Rhodes backs him into the corner. Fenix dropkicks Dustin, running ropewalk kick to Cody, Pentagon hits the Here It Is Driver! Dustin legal, kick combos, he slips out of the piledriver, snap scoop powerslam on Penta! Counter Fenix’s dive into a Manhattan Drop... FLIP PILEDRIVER! CODY CUTTER TAKES PENTA OUT...

The Brotherhood win by pinfall with the Final Reckoning from Dustin Rhodes on Rey Fenix.

Post-match, Tony Schiavone interviews Cody Rhodes and asks him for his answer to Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s stipulations from last week.

Arn Anderson interrupts before Cody can answer, and he says he doesn’t know how this MJF thinks he has the stroke to lay these preposterous stipulations down. Did somebody die and make him god? But one thing he knows for sure is Cody wants the match, they’re gonna talk about it and they’ll get back to us.

“Leaping” Lanny Poffo is interviewed as part of the celebration of the legends of Memphis Wrestling.

He says “dynamite” is the word for AEW, it’s really great and he wants to contribute to the product.

We’re told that the tribute to Memphis will be on Dark this week.

MJF and Wardlow make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, MJF says he’ll give Cody until the count of ten to come out here and face him like a man.

When Rhodes doesn’t come out, he calls him a little bitch, but here comes Diamond Dallas Page!

He gets on the mic and introduces himself. He goes for the cheap pop putting AEW over and says he’d never believed he would be live on TNT ever again, but look who’s back, live and in public if you will. He’s here to address a situation from a few weeks ago with MJF. He mocks him and Wardlow before saying his Twitter has been lit up ever since he was last on the show, asking if he would come back for one more match.

Max loses his mind and cuts him off, saying DDP couldn’t lace his boots in his prime, but now with those arthritic hands of his, he can’t hold his jock. Page gets in his face and MJF says he doesn’t want to fight, but these guys might.

Enter the Butcher and the Blade, and the Bunny.

MJF resumes, saying he knows DDP is getting senile with his age, but WCW is dead, and dead is the average age of his fans. Page is in a bit of a predicament here, and he has two options-- he can kiss Max’s ring and then get out of his company, or they can send him straight to hospice, MJF can take one of his daughters, lay her down real nice in his bed, and then they’re gonna do one thing, and one thing only--

DDP has had enough and shoves Max! DIAMOND CUTTER ON ANDY WILLIAMS! PEPPER PARKS GETS THE BETTER OF HIM... INVERTED FACELOCK DIAMOND CUTTER! MJF interferes and shoves him away, Page stops short of Wardlow... AND MAX KICKS DDP IN THE GENTLEMAN’S AREA! Wardlow and Cherry Bomb drop DDP up but QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes make the save!

And so we go to break.

Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, & Trent?) vs. Jurassic Express (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, Luchasaurus, & Marko Stunt)

Taylor and Perry to start, arm wringer, roll through, stalemate. Back to the lockup, Chuck backs him into the corner, Jack ducks a lariat, up and over, Chuck with a lucha arm drag and a charge that gets sidestepped. Jungle Boy Arabian press arm drag, dropkick and a kip-up! Stunt wants the tag and he gets it, in against Trent?, pacing around and psyching himself up, collar and elbow and Beretta shoves him down with ease!

Marko centers himself, leaping into a side headlock but Trent sets him up top... AND STUNT HITS A DIVING FRANKENSTEINER! Beretta won’t stay down, but he *will* small package Beretta and taunt him! Overhand chop, desperation tag to Perry, he comes in with a waistlock, Manhattan Drop, Marko with an enzuigiri to put the exclamation point, ripcord assisted splash, Chuck breaks it up!

All six men in the ring, well, except for Orange, facing off and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Taylor hits a Falcon Arrow on Perry and Stunt breaks it up! Shoving Jack into the ropes chest-first, tag to Trent, Luchasaurus in and he clears house! Discus roundhouse lays Beretta out but Chuck gets a boot up and Luchasaurus has to stomp him to the mat! Crescent kick knocks Trent into the corner and Cassidy tags in!

Orange puts his hands in his pockets and kicks at Luchasaurus’ legs, but the big man goes for a suplex... STUNDOG MILLIONAIRE! Perry in, Cassidy with a dropkick, hands in his pockets for the kip-up and for the suicide dive that follows! Back in, big Best Friends hug, Jungle Boy slides in, German suplex for Beretta! Forearm to Chuck, but he gets tossed into a spear from Beretta!

Orange off the top, falling splash... MARKO BREAKS IT UP WITH A DIVING DOUBLE STOMP! Taylor tags in, Stunt hits a satellite DDT on Chuck and a flip piledriver on Trent! LUCHASAURUS PRESS SLAMS STUNT INTO THE CRUSH ON THE FLOOR! Chuck goes for a powerbomb, Jack reverses...

Jurassic Express win by pinfall with a Hurricanrana from “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry on Chuck Taylor.

Commentary hypes up next week’s show... including DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE IN TRIOS ACTION!

Chris Jericho makes his entrance, with Sammy Guevara at his side, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Jon Moxley makes his entrance to give the Inner Circle his answer.

Jericho and Guevara are now joined by Jake Hager as Le Champion gives Mox a big intro and puts him over as his friend and protege.

Chris says this is an important day in Memphis, and not because it’s Elvis Presley’s birthday, because Elvis was an ass, he’d kick his ass, and the Beatles were better, but because Jon Moxley is gonna join the Inner Circle. He talks up the car and how Ortiz and Santana are holding down the club, and it’s gonna be a party all night long but none of the fans are invited.

He asks Mox if he’s going to be part of the Inner Circle, and Jon admits he’s had a lot to think about. There’s more that went into this decision than we probably think. We might think we know what makes him tick, but truth is, we don’t, and he doesn’t think Chris does either. He offered a car, money, part ownership in the Inner Circle, but he doesn’t want any of it.

He didn’t come to AEW because somebody backed a truck full of money to his house. He can’t be bought. He came to run roughshod over pro wrestling, he came to dominate, and that’s why his answer is yes! Jon takes his jacket off and reveals the Inner Circle shirt he was given last week. He continues, saying there’s no more dominant force in AEW than the Inner Circle, and he wants to stand with them!

Jericho gloats, saying he told us so, and Mox says if you wanna be great, you have to learn from the greats, and the pea brains out there might not be able to admit it, but fact is Chris Jericho is the greatest of all time. He’ll stand with him, surround himself with greatness, and they’ll dominate AEW for years to come, and there’s only one thing left-- pop open the bubbly!

Y2J gloats more and says 2020 will be the year of the Inner Circle as they spray the bubbly all over the ring. Chris demands music play, and it does, as Moxley hugs Hager and they celebrate. Jericho says this is the beginning of the Inner Circle taking over AEW and we can all shut up and watch them do it. Chris calls some fan out for saying they suck and Jon says you gota problem with him if you got a problem with Le Champion.

Mox says they forgot something, and Jericho owes him a little something, making a motion for car keys. Chris talks about how much the car is worth and gives the keys over. “You sold out!” chants ring out as Moxley gets back on the mic and says he was gonna run his 2015 Dodge Ram until the wheels fall off, until he got the Gift of Jericho.

Y2J says he did sell out... all these shows. They won their matches at the Tokyo Dome, they’re together now in AEW, hit the music again! Jericho sprays more bubbly and Sammy and Jake leave the ring. Jon asks for the music to be cut and says he forgot one final thing... He was just kidding. He’d never join the Inner Circle! It’s a stupid group, and he has nothing he wants except the title...

HE GLASSES JERICHO WITH A BOTTLE OF THE BUBBLY AND SPIKES HIM WITH THE PARADIGM SHIFT! HE PUTS GUEVARA DOWN TOO AND MAKES A BREAK FOR IT WITH THE CAR KEYS IN HAND!

That’s the show, folks.
