AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 15

Back and forth, I sway with the wind, resolution slips away again. Right through my fingers, back into my heart where it’s out of reach and it’s in the dark. Sometimes I think I’m blind or I may be just paralyzed, because the plot thickens every day and the pieces of my puzzle keep crumblin’ away but I know, there’s a picture beneath. Indecision clouds my vision, no one listens... Because I’m here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show.

The show opens with a memorial graphic for “Soul Man” Rocky Johnson.

”Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega vs. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?) vs. Proud-n-Powerful (Ortiz & Santana) vs. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match)

Trent? and Nick Jackson to start, Beretta with the strength advantage but the Buck gets off a step-up lucha arm drag to even things out. Ducking strikes, stalemate, tags to Taylor and Page. Hangman with a side headlock, shot off, drop down, leapfrog, drop down, duck a lariat, scoop Chuck up and hit the fallaway slam! Tags made, Matt and Kenny now, collar and elbow but Santana and Ortiz break it up and clean house!

Santana tags in, trading forearms with Omega, knee lift, big chop, whip, Kenny slides low, full nelson, denied, the Cleaner with a backbreaker and Nick comes in with a dropkick. Ortiz in with an eye rake, impromptu teamwork from Omega and the Bucks clear him out, Trent tags in, blind tags from the Bucks sets up a series of double-teams. Matt with right hands, Beretta tags in and they dump Jackson on his head with a sole food / half nelson suplex combo but Santana attacks before they can hug! Inner Circle men clear the apron and drag Trent over to force a tag. Whip reversed, Matt fighting valiantly but Santana hits an Ace Crusher!

Enzuigiri, pump kick, overrotated double-team back suplex, standing moonsault, Ortiz with a tope con giro and Santana joins the fray with one of his own! Tag back to Santana, slingshot senton atomico, pulling Matt up for the Three Amigos! The third one delayed, tag to Angel, passing Jackson over and Ortiz is feeling it! Whip over, back body drop to the floor but Matt gets a spear!

Clearing the apron, there’s nowhere for Matt to go for a tag, boot up in the corner, springboard corkscrew Stunner! Tag to Omega, the Best Bout Machine comes in hot, Dragon suplex takes Ortiz out, catch Santana on a dive with one as well and he tags out to Trent. Tornado DDT blocked, Omega hits the Dragon on him too! Fireman’s carry, Finlay Roll, running shooting star press from Page, moonsault from Kenny, Hangman with the Orihara moonsault to wipe PNP out on the floor!

Omega lines him up, Ortiz trips him and pulls him to the floor, back rake, Santana with the escalera! Dives continue, Matt up top but Beretta cuts him off and climbs up... SUPERPLEX TO THE FLOOR! Off the ropes, Trent with the Busaiku Knee, Strong Zero denied, Kenny hooks him, Chuck and Page join the fray, ref bump, Bucks and PNP in as well, looking for a massive eight-man suplex... AND HERE COMES ORANGE CASSIDY!

”Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega win by pinfall with a combination Buck Shot / V-Trigger on Chuck Taylor to become #1 contenders to the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, commentary hypes up the rest of tonight’s show.

Cody Rhodes comes out and gets on the mic.

He says he came out here full of his usual self-righteousness and asked Maxwell Jacob Friedman to name his price, and he did, and it’s rather expensive. He calls for a graphic with MJF’s stipulations laid out and runs through them bottom to top— he’s got to wrestle Wardlow inside of a steel cage and he surmises that the strategy is that a match that violent will take a toll and give Max a better chance to win, but that surprises him.

He knows what it’s like to have your thunder stolen and he thinks that people might come to the conclusion that Wardlow shouldn’t be carrying MJF’s bags after they see him in action. And then we have the most controversial of those stipulations, that Cody be lashed ten times on live TV. He understands the symbolism, but if Max thinks that his skin welting and bleeding is the worst thing to come of this rivalry, he’s wrong.

As far as not being able to touch MJF, he doesn’t need to because he lives rent-free inside of his head and he and everybody knows that Max is stalling. He’s wanted to be famous his entire life, with his pageant mommy and daddy parading him on Rosie as a kid, until he found out that he was good at pro wrestling. All these old-timers say he’s a true real old-school heel, but he’s not old-school, he’s lazy.

So as far as these stipulations go, Cody accepts. And he knows the perfect place for the steel cage match, to boot. And having this match may mean he’s failed as a mentor, but he’s got one last lesson to impart— this isn’t MJF’s story, he’s just one chapter in Cody’s, and at Revolution, he’s going to give him his own goddamn scar.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Joey Janela promo.

He talks about how 2020 is a new year for him but what happened in Jacksonville last week? He got punched in the balls by his ex-girlfriend Penelope Ford. He said time and again he didn’t want anything to do with her, but they both know that the only way Ford can create buzz for herself is on his name. Now she’s walking around like hot stuff with her new sidepiece Kip Sabian?

He dares Kip to cross this line and moves on, saying last year his record wasn’t what it should have been, but next week he’s got Rey Fenix and something to prove, and he’s gonna show everyone why he’s a Bad, Bad Boy.

Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander vs. the Nightmare Collective (Brandi Rhodes & Melanie Cruise)

Nightmare Collective attack before the bell, Dr. Luther attacking Shida in the aisle while the two women attack Statlander but Hikaru makes it in the ring and we get a bell.

Cruise and Shida to start, Hikaru snaps off a Frankensteiner and Mel falls to the floor. Kris with a kick and then a moonsault off the apron before Shida goes and gets a chair. Setting it open on the floor, she backs up and lines her up for the step-up knee strike! Tossing Cruise back inside, double dropkick sets up a cover for two.

Whip reversed, front kick, Mel drops her with a big boot! Leg drop across the back of the neck, tag to Rhodes, kick to the ribs for two. Putting boots to Shida, posing for the crowd, choking her over the bottom rope and Cruise comes back in to choke her as well. Referee Paul Turner counts her off, Hikaru fighting back with desperation strikes but Mel mat slams her and surfboards her over the ropes to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Cruise is working Shida over. Front chancery, thinking suplex, Hikaru blocking, right hands, tags made but Rhodes runs away from Statlander! Nobody there for the tag, she begs off but Kris takes her head off with a roundhouse kick! Discus lariat, drawing her up, spinning fisherman’s Michinoku Driver but Mel breaks it up!

Shida takes her out with a dropkick, chaos on the floor, Brandi with a spear... NOPE! Furious, stomping away, tag back to Cruise. Bossman Slam for two, Mel headed up top, Hikaru slides back in and cuts her off with a Shotei! Climbing up after her, superplex, Statlander with a running knee... ONLY A ONE COUNT! Shida keeping Rhodes busy, standing moonsault but Brandi slips out and breaks it up!

Cruise thinking about some kinda inverted DDT, denied, knock Shida to the floor with a lariat, jockeying for position...

Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander win by pinfall with a wheelbarrow tombstone piledriver from Statlander on Melanie Cruise.

We get a Dark Order vignette talking about key recruits they’ve been trying to acquire, from Michael Nakazawa to Kenny Omega to Brandon Cutler to Adam Page.

Sammy Guevara makes his entrance to send us to break.

Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara

Guevara hard out the gates, clubbing blows but Moxley decks him with a lariat and follows it up with an elbow drop for two. Choking Sammy in the corner, whip reversed, Guevara with a knee and a springboard Ace Crusher! Mox to the floor, Sammy with the corkscrew tope! Back inside, Guevara perches up top before mockingly dropping down. Running knee, Crash Landing... nope!

Jockeying for position on the apron, to the floor, whip Jon into the barricade, break the count, put Moxley back inside, chest kick for two sends us to break.

Back from commercial, Mox throwing forearms, off the ropes, leapfrog, waistlock, Guevara lands on his feet off the German suplex, running shooting star press, only two! Sidestep the kick, Moxley goes for Hook and Ladder, reversed to a victory roll for two. Pump kick denied, Jon hits the original Dirty Deeds... STILL NO! Perching, Sammy runs in... SPANISH FLY OFF THE TOP!

Argentine backbreaker rack, Jon slips out, underhooks blocked, knee strike, this time Sammy gets the Feast Your Eyes off... ONLY A NEARFALL! Guevara up top, diving moonsault... MOX CATCHES HIM INTO A SLEEPER HOLD! IT’S OVER!

Jon Moxley wins by submission with a sleeper hold.

Post-match, the lights go down, and when they come back up, the rest of the Inner Circle is in the ring with Moxley! He rushes in to fight them off but they overwhelm him with That Damn Numbers Game and put boots to him! Chris Jericho takes his gloves off while Jake Hager chokes Mox with a head-and-arm triangle! Y2J whips Jon with the damn title belt!

Santana and Ortiz hold Mox up and Hager hits a running kick to the gentleman’s area! Still holding Jon, Chris unscrews a six inch metal spike from his jacket... AND STABS MOXLEY IN THE EYE WITH IT! Referees and a trainer come to ringside and check on Mox while the Inner Circle gloat about it to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Jon Moxley is being helped to the back.

The Inner Circle are walking backstage when they run into an interview.

Chris Jericho says this wasn’t their fault, it was Jon Moxley’s fault for spurning them and smashing him in the head with a champagne bottle last week. Mox is a rebel and that’s why they had to take him out, eye for an eye. So they’re gonna keep an eye on him, since he only has one now, and PAC and Darby Allin should thank him for letting them jump right to the top of the line.

Y2J talks about how they’re gonna beat Jurassic Express next week and leave them in the same position they left Mox in tonight.

Butcher and the Blade (Andy Williams & Pepper Parks) & Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Diamond Dallas Page, Dustin Rhodes, & QT Marshall

Friedman and Page to start, but Max tags out to Williams and goes and chills against the barricade. He returns and tags right back in, and DDP tags Marshall in. MJF drops QT, drop down, leapfrog, handspring and Marshall squares right up against him. Flip the bird, eye poke, tag to Parks. Putting boots to QT, chopping away, whip across, duck a lariat, springboard crossbody and a tag to Rhodes!

Dustin in with lariats, whip reversed, drop down slap, Manhattan Drop but Pepper sidesteps a boot and pushes Rhodes in the corner. Dustin walks right out but Friedman hits a cheap shot with knucks! Parks with the beatdown, dumping the Natural out to the floor. Bunny mocks the Goldust taunt and slaps him across the face, setting up a boot from Wardlow!

They throw Rhodes back inside and we go to break.

Back from commercial, the heels are still working Rhodes over and Friedman tags in. Max taunting, kneeling reverse chinlock, Rhodes gets away, boot up in the corner, back body drop to the floor and MJF takes the apron on the chin! The path clear, Dustin crawling, he wants it but the Butcher takes QT out! Blade tags in, snap scoop powerslam connects... TAG TO DDP!

Page in hot with a right hand, smashing Max’s face into the turnbuckles again and again! He drops Williams with a lariat and smashes Friedmans’ face again. Lariat for Parks, calling for the Bang! DIAMOND CUTTER DROPS THE BUTCHER! Dallas calls for it again, MJF stumbles into it but slips out and hits a low blow with a back kick! Rhodes tags in, flip piledriver!

DDP calls for it... DIAMOND CUTTER LAYS MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN OUT! Dustin with the cover but Pepper breaks it up! Tag to Marshall, Rhodes with a cannonball off the apron, QT off the ropes... SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP! Cherry Bomb running interference but Dallas shrugs her off... DIVING SPLASH FROM THE 63-YEAR-OLD LEGEND! While all the chaos is on the floor, MJF takes advantage...

Butcher and the Blade & Maxwell Jacob Friedman win by pinfall with a schoolboy pin from MJF on QT Marshall.

Backstage, SCU are interviewed about their tag title defense against “Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega.

Before they can answer any questions a slightly buzzed and belligerent Page walks up with his glass of whiskey and gets into a bit of a shoving match. Kenny Omega rolls up to save his partner and wishes the champs the best of luck in a gentleman’s contest before walking Hangman off.

And so we go to break.

Darby Allin vs. PAC

Circling, side headlock from PAC, shot off, shoulder block, off the ropes, drop down, leapfrog, duck the lariat, roll through, springboard arm drag but PAC lands on his feet! Allin with a dropkick, side headlock of his own, shot off, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker connects! Huge hip toss from the Bastard, stepping on Darby’s head under the ropes but referee Bryce Remsburg admonishes him.

Allin gets a boot up in the corner, shotgun dropkick connects, PAC to the floor and Darby drops him with a suicide dive! Throwing the Bastard back inside, he rolls out the other side and Allin dives again! Looking for a diving Frankensteiner off the apron but PAC counters and swings Darby into the steel steps to send us to break.

Back from commercial, PAC is in control and dumps Allin to the floor. Ramming him into the barricade, back inside, headed up top and the Bastard hits the missile dropkick. Cover for two, pushing Darby into the corner, fireman’s carry, climbing up top... ALLIN HITS AN AVALANCHE CRUCIFIX DRIVER WHAT IN THE WORLD?! PAC to the floor... COFFIN DROP OFF THE TOP!

Back inside, Remsburg counting and PAC makes it back in at seven. Allin with a go-behind, standing Diamond Dust and the Yoshi Tonic... NOT ENOUGH! Darby shaking, desperate, baseball slide after the Bastard goes outside but he gets Allin caught up in the ring skirt and decks him with a kick! Back inside, off the ropes... HUGE LARIAT BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH TO PUT DARBY AWAY!

Waiting for Allin to drag himself to his feet, PAC nails him with a forearm, La Casita... STILL NO! Trading pinning predicaments, Darby with the Last Supper... HE CAN’T PUT PAC AWAY! Coffin Drop countered into a German suplex, Liger Bomb drops Allin on his damn head but he kicks out! The Bastard up top, jockeying for position, Darby stills up with determination only for PAC to drop him with a headbutt...

PAC wins by pinfall with Black Arrow.

Post-match, Tony Schiavone interviews PAC.

PAC cuts him off and demands Tony congratulate him for becoming number one contender. Tony says next week he has to wrestle Jon Moxley, but the Bastard says Mox is clearly incapacitated, which means a forfeit, which means he’s #1 contender. He calls out Jericho but Schiavone says they have to go backstage.

Cut to Jon being loaded into an ambulance but he refuses to be driven off!

MOXLEY, HIS EYE BANDAGED AND BLOOD STAINING HIS FACE AND SHOULDER, STORMS BACK OUT TO RINGSIDE,! HE’S GOT A MIC! HE SAYS IT’S NOT GOING DOWN LIKE THAT!

He doesn’t care if he’s blind, half-dead, he’ll be there next week and he will kick PAC’s ass because that title shot belongs to him!

That’s the show, folks.
