Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Paul Heyman was in charge of Raw last night, per Pro Wrestling Sheet. Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, and Triple H were not at the show in Knoxville, Tennessee.
- As Luke Harper was at Clash of Champions, Pro Wrestling Sheet’s sources told them Rusev was hidden backstage all day and during Raw to keep his return a surprise. WrestleVotes tweeted earlier one element of the show was being kept a secret on the production rundown, and it was his part in the Kanellis angle.
- Kevin Owens is expected to appear on the premiere of NXT on USA Wednesday, per PW Insider, but it’s not clear if it’s a one-off or a longer run with the brand.
- Ric & Charlotte Flair are scheduled for WWE appearances while SmackDown is in Atlanta today, but with Ric’s contract up at the end of the year (according to Wrestling Observer), the fight over “The Man” trademark, and his booking on Chris Jericho’s Jan. 2020 cruise, there’s talk he might not re-sign.
- Speaking of the Jericho cruise, AEW might film an edition of their TNT show on the boat. Tony Khan has talked about wanting to do on-location like WCW Nitro used to.
