No one knows you better than your own brother and that is why there have been so many great brother tag teams in wrestling. Taking it a step further than simply being a brother tag team are those duos who were twins. A twin brother wrestling tag team can be a formidable challenge. Capable of changing places and having a telepathic connection, these teams are always very difficult to defeat. These twin brother tag teams made a mark on the squared circle, but do you remember their runs in the business?
The Headhunters
The Headhunters had a cup of coffee in the WWE but made headlines in Japan and Puerto Rico as a blood and guts tag team. The duo was twin brothers Manuel and Victor Santiago who weighed a combined 652 pounds. They starred in Japan for blood and guts companies such as W*ING, IWA, and FMW and appeared at the 1996 Royal Rumble in the WWE.
The Power Twins
Larry and David Sontag (aka Power) competed in the squared circle from 1987 to 1998. The large duo made plenty of waves working for independent promotions in the United States and Canada. Despite their look, they never made it to the WWE, WCW, or ECW. The twin brother tag team are perhaps more famous for the film and TV appearances. Both Larry and David appeared in Oceans 11 and 12 as “goons”.
The Cole Twins
Kent and Keith Cole are a blast from the wrestling past. The duo debuted in pro wrestling in the early 1990s. The Cole Twins were brought into WCW by Dusty Rhodes and put on TV tapings and house shows in early February 1993. The twins would leave WCW not long after debuting and end up in NWA Wildside at the end of the decade.
The Batten Twins
Bart and Brad Batten worked for nearly every independent and outlaw company in wrestling between 1983 and 2005. Trained by Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo and their father Angelo Poffo, the Batten Twins entered the ring after just a few training sessions thanks to their experience wrestling in high school. The twins battled tag teams all over the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The duo retired from active competition in 2005. Unfortunately, Brad Batten passed away in 2015 following a double heart attack.
McGuire Twins
The Headhunters weren’t the only large twin brother wrestling tag team. The McGuire twins tipped the scales at a whopping 1,470 pounds. The large brothers could barely move around the ring but their girth made them an attraction. Billy and Benny only competed from 1972 to 1979 after being trained by Gory Guerro. They competed in Stu Hart’s Stampede Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. At one time, the twins were the Guiness Book of World Record’s “World’s Heaviest Twins” at over 720 pounds each. Billy’s wrestling career ended in 1979 after a motorcycle crash took his life. Benny lived until 2001 when he died of heart failure.
