The first match you’ll see on AEW’s TV show on TNT, probably

We’re drawing ever closer to AEW’s big television debut on TNT on Oct. 2, 2019. The show sold out damn near instantly and fans are eager to see a major promotion on a big time cable network competing, in some way, with WWE.

So who will make history as the first match on AEW TV?

You already know:

“I think, as of looking at it now, I’ll probably be the very first match of the night. Which has a special place in my mind but also thinking from a logistic and planning standpoint, it also makes it very easy for me to go sit down, put the headset on, and help Tony Khan and the other EVPs produce the rest of the show.”

That would be Cody Rhodes telling Bill Apter on The Apter Chat (HT: Wrestling Inc) that his match against Sammy Guevara will likely be the first match of the evening. It’s a good match to start with, considering there’s more anticipation for Jon Moxley’s appearance, and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho & two mystery partners.

We’ll see it all in less than two months.
