Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes “some in AEW were upset” about what CM Punk said regarding his talks with the promotion in his recent interview with ESPN.
- Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns is in the plans for SummerSlam, according to the Wrestling Observer.
- WWE will be adhering to the brand split come October when SmackDown Live moves to FOX, per the Observer, but that could change pending ratings.
- On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said the SmackDown Live creative chaos this week was such that they were still writing things into the second hour of the show.
- Meltzer also notes, by the way, that there were minor changes made to Monday Night Raw this week by Vince McMahon but it wasn’t anything like SmackDown Live’s rewrite.
