Court Bauer’s Major League Wrestling tours, airs weekly around the world on beIN Sports, and for fans who don’t get the former Al Jazeera Sport network, makes their Fusion show available for free on YouTube after its televised. Now they’re adding another piece to the puzzle with their first pay-per-view (PPV).
Announced via Sports Illustrated, MLW Saturday Night Superfight will emanate from Chicagoland’s Cicero Stadium on Nov. 2. It’ll be available on the usual cable and satellite providers in the United States and Canada for $19.95. Bauer says he’s in ongoing negotiations for a worldwide streaming option.
“This is a chance for MLW to make a statement,” Bauer says. “Watch carefully this summer, this card isn’t going to be thrown together in late October. All the seeds will be planted. And all of the championships will be on the line.”
While it’s likely some of these will change, as of now here are the MLW titles, and who’d be defending them if the PPV happened today:
- MLW World Heavyweight Champion Tom Lawlor
- MLW National Openweight Champ Alexander Hammerstone
- MLW World Tag Team Champions The New Era Hart Foundation ((Brian Pillman Jr., Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Teddy Hart)
- MLW World Middleweight Champ Teddy Hart
2019 features as crowded a marketplace as pro wrestling’s seen this century, but former WWE writer Bauer has assembled a strong team behind-the-scenes (including fellow WWE-ex and friend-of-Cageside Alex Greenfield) and a mix of old & new on-screen talent for MLW’s latest iteration. He’s also been pragmatic in rolling out the product, with PPV only coming after nearly two years on television, which only came after a year of live shows.
