AEW books a puzzling six-man for Fight For The Fallen

We’re only a week and a half away from the AEW’s third show, and Cody Rhodes’ YouTube channel has the second episode of their Road to Fight for the Fallen series which builds to and promotes the Sat., July 13 event.

The first third of the video is a look back at last weekend’s Fyter Fest, including lots of different angles and slow motion looks at Shawn Spears hitting Rhodes’ in the head with a steel chair. We also get a new scene of Cody’s “protege” Maxwell Jacob Friedman confronting Spears after the attack, and security & AEW management keeping the two men separated.

Which is weird, because the episode’s one match announcement puts MJF and Spears on a trios team with Sammy Guevara against the hardcore dream team of Darby Allin, Jimmy Havoc & Joey Janela. There’s no explanation given for the match, so we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. But at first glance, it looks like All Elite is getting their first “can these enemies co-exist?” story out of the way already.

Young master Friedman is perplexed:

Elsewhere in episode 2, we hear from local lawyers Farah & Farah about why it was so important to partner with AEW on this show to help victims of gun violence. And we’re introduced to a new side of Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes, who opens up about her history as a self-sabotaging amateur figure skater as she expresses both her doubts and drive concerning her match at Fight for the Fallen.

Here’s an updated look at the card for next Saturday in Jacksonville:

  • Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs. The Young Bucks
  • Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie
  • Kenny Omega vs. CIMA
  • Kip Sabian vs. Adam “Hangman” Page
  • Joey Janela, Jimmy Havoc & Darby Allin vs. MJF, Shawn Spears & Sammy Guevara
  • An appearance by Chris Jericho
