Welcome back to the Sermon on the Mat, your weekly one-stop shop for news from the wider world of wrestling beyond the big cable TV monoliths that get all the coverage.
Coming soon...
FIP Heatstroke 2019 (July 19, 9PM Eastern)
- Cyrus Satin vs. Ian Maxwell
- Brubaker vs. Tracer X
- International Superstars (Blanco Loco & Joey Ozbourne) vs. Tinder Boys (Bryan Idol & Matt Delray)
- The End (Odinson & Parrow) vs. WAR Godz (Damien Angel & Logan Creed)
- The Precipice (Chance Auren & Omar Amir) (c) vs. Ugly Ducklings (Lance Lude & Rob Killjoy) (FIP World Tag Team Championship)
- OAO (Hunter Law, Snoop Strikes, & Troy Hollywood) vs. the Skulk (Adrian Alanis, Leon Ruff, & Liam Gray)
- Eddie Kingston vs. Jon Davis (c) (FIP Florida Heritage Championship)
FIP are back in the Orpheum in Ybor City, Florida, and while FIP World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Henry is sitting this one out, we’ve still got enough to get hyped about here to fill a bushel basket! The main event of Kingston/Davis alone, surely a visceral, hard-hitting affair, but then you add in that six-man Skulk grudge match, the Ducks competing for the tag titles, and Brubaker vs. Tracer X in a battle of regional stars looking to make their name in WWN, and it’s gonna be a good show, folks.
Get your tickets here or watch live on WWNLive, whether as an individual purchase or at no additional cost with your Club WWN subscription.
A1 True North Strong (July 21, 4PM Eastern)
- Mark Wheeler vs. Tyler Colton
- Brett Michael David vs. RJ City
- ”All Ego” Ethan Page vs. EZE Eric Cairnie
- Davey Boy Smith, Jr. vs. Shane Sabre
- Kobe Durst (c) vs. LuFisto (A1 Alpha Male Championship)
O Canada, our home and native land, true patriot graps in all thy sons’ commmand-- that’s the plan for Alpha-1’s return to Hamilton, Ontario, because this show is ALL Canadian talent! And Kobe Durst is about to go up against the biggest challenge of his poutine-lovin’ life, because the Wounded Owl herself is comin’ for that Alpha Male Championship on her retirement tour!
Get your tickets here or check it out when it hits IWTV, folks.
Chikara Live at Arm & Hammer Park (July 23, 5:45PM Eastern)
- Solo Darling vs. Still Life With Apricots and Pears
- Boomer Hatfield vs. Rory Gulak (Johnny Kidd Invitational First Round Match)
Chikara are in Trenton, New Jersey and they’ve got another one of these baseball double-header shows that are studding their summer calendar and providing a canvas for this year’s Johnny Kidd Invitational! Only two matches confirmed for this one as I write this, but Boomer gets to try and build on his victory over his own father by beating the 2017 JKI winner, and Still Life and Solo have a special challenge match lined up.
Get your tickets here or check it out when it hits Chikaratopia and IWTV, folks.
Free matches here!
Chuck Payne vs. Jeff Cannonball vs. Marc Angel vs. Sean Henderson vs. Stockade
From Matt Tremont’s Hardcore Hustle and CZW, we’ve got some action hot off the presses from last week’s memorial show for photographer Lyle C. Williams. It’s a five-way for the Hybrid title, check it out!
Danny Adams vs. Louis Lyndon
From the folks over at Glory Pro, we’re stopping back in to take a look at their match of the week again, because indie vet and Captain of the Ship Louis Lyndon is taking on a man who doesn’t want any new friends. Enjoy!
Brian Pillman, Jr. vs. Kevin Ku vs. Kobe Durst vs. Marko Stunt vs. Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Tom Lawlor
From our friends over at Black Label Pro, we have the six-way elimination finals from last year’s Darkest Timeline Championship Tournament. Look at those names-- don’t miss it!

As always with Evolve I’ll just point you to my recap (Evolve 131 here, 132 coming soon-- owing to it airing at the same time as Extreme Rules I’m going to have to get to it on VOD and it’s G1 Climax season, so... /collar tug) and keep it short and sweet here, but this is the kind of debut that Evolve needed to have on the WWE Network, and here’s hoping to many more specials up with the big boys!
Check the VODs out on the WWE Network and WWNLive, folks.
As always...
Remember folks, no matter what type of wrestling you like, no matter how down you feel about the state of WWE, Impact, ROH, or any other “big-time” pro wrestling, there’s something out there for you. There’s a pro wrestling product that can hit you in the right spot and make you love wrestling like you thought you’d never be able to love it again. It’s there, I promise. You just gotta reach out and find it, and that, my friends, is what the Sermon on the Mat is all about.
