None of us is starving for wrestling-related content these days, but if you’re like me, you’ll make room for Netflix’s dramedy about the making of campy 1980s show/promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Season two left the women & men who create the show-within-a-show cancelled by their local Los Angeles TV channel and hitting the road to put on a live version in Las Vegas. And now we know when we’ll get to see Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Marc Maron and the entire ensemble cast of GLOW back on our screens and trying to make it in the city of sin... season three drops on August 9.

Along with that announcement, a Deadline story came out today (May 31) with some plot details and production stills for the new batch of episodes from executive producers Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Tara Hermann and Jenji Kohan. There’s a lot of pink frills, and the following story synopsis:
“Season 3 follows the ladies of GLOW as they take the Las Vegas Strip by storm. Now headliners at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, the women quickly realize that Sin City is much more grind than glitter. Ever the team cheerleader, Ruth’s passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her growingly complicated personal life. Debbie is making headway as a producer but continues to be consumed with guilt over the distance between her and her son. As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring.”
If that doesn’t sound like your can of Tab, there’s also a more direct wrestling tie-in: All Elite Wrestling retweeted the date announcement just before sending out a link for the first official AEW merch for GLOW star and Double or Nothing’s surprise entrant in what turned out to be a 4Way match, Kia “Awesome Kong” Stevens.
The stars of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated show have made some WWE appearances in the past. Could they be switching allegiances?
Just something to think about while you set a reminder for Aug. 9...
