Rumor Roundup (May 28, 2019): Styles injury, Tony Khan impresses, AEW roster news, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • AJ Styles is “banged up”, according to PW Insider’s sources, but beyond that and word he wasn’t at Raw, not much is known about his injury status.
  • Insider also reported that Tony Khan impressed his employees at Double or Nothing, both with how he handled production responsibilities like keeping the show running on time, and how enthusiastic he was about the in-ring performances.
  • Super Smash Bros, the team who attacked after Best Friends beat Angelico & Jack Evans at Double or Nothing, are expected to undergo a name change in AEW to avoid copyright issues with Nintendo.
  • Joey Ryan turned down AEW’s contract offer, per He’s promoting an announcement about his future at the Bar Wrestling show on Thursday.
  • Maria Kanellis revealed on Twitter that she and husband Mike’s contracts are up in three weeks. She later played it off as a joke, but multiple outlets confirmed that is when their WWE deals expire.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it. And check our weekly Rumor Look Back here to keep track of how often rumors turn out to be correct.
