Double or Nothing results: Hangman Page wins Casino Battle Royale

TNT

All Elite Wrestling got its debut pay-per-view (PPV) showcase kicked off with a free live stream of the pre-show tonight (Sat., May 25, 2019) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Said pre-show featured the Casino Battle Royale, a match with much bigger stakes than wrestling fans are used to seeing out of pre-show matches.

The winner would earn a shot at the vacant AEW world championship against the winner of the Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega match later on in the evening.

This was also the first look at AEW’s fresh new vision.

It felt awfully familiar.

We saw old school names the likes of Billy Gunn, Glacier, and Tommy Dreamer mixed in with new school names like Joey Janela, Marko Stunt, and MJF, the latter of which was easily the most hated man in the building. The big surprise, however, was the wrestler who picked the “Joker” card and therefore entered last — none other than Hangman Page, whose previously scheduled match against PAC was cancelled.

There was some talk he wasn’t being allowed to compete with an injury, but, hey, this is still pro wrestling.

Indeed, you won’t be surprised, then, that Page was victorious after last eliminating MJF.
