Daniel Bryan & Eric Rowan (c) versus The Usos
SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship
How did we get here?
At WrestleMania - which was only a little over a month ago even though it feels like an eternity - The Usos retained their championships only to lose it two days later to The Hardy Boyz.
Then Lars Sullivan happened.
Lars injured the ever injurable Jeff Hardy and the Hardy Boyz (and their championships) were sidelined. Until finally WWE had to face the Freak in the room and The Hardyz were forced to vacate the championships. Then Lars happened again. Cool.
Side bar: Is this a curse? Do you think the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships are cursed?
But what do we do with vacated titles that we don’t care about?
Give them to the Planet’s Champion of course...er make them fight for the championships!
The following week The Usos wild-carded (ugh) back to SmackDown Live to help out their cousins (yes, I am counting The Miz as a new member of the Anoa’i) and a MITB match was born.
Who will win?
Despite our (my) hopes that the new tag champions would debut their new eco-friendly belts they have simply fallen in line and are now Shane McMahon’s shills. I guess, when you are focused on saving the planet you don’t care who your allies are!
With corporate in his corner and two losses under his belt to Kofi there really is no better place for Daniel Bryan at the moment than as the Tag Team Champion. The Usos did a lot for the blue brand’s tag belts, but now it’s time for them to try and save the red brand (Watch out for you junk Revival).
This match really is just a place holder. Don’t get me wrong like almost all SmackDown Live Tag Team pre-show matches it’ll be lit, but it’ll also not get the recognition or respect it deserves.
WWE gonna WWE.
Who will win?
