There is some unfortunate news to report. Lucha libre veteran Silver King has died at the age of 51. Silver King was competing against Juventud Guerrera at a show in London on May 11, 2019. Silver King suffered health complications during the match from which he did not recover. It is being reported as a heart attack.
There is video of the incident, which we’ll refrain from posting for the sake of decorum. Silver King hit Juvi with a jumping clothesline. Juvi kicked out and Silver King kind of faded to the ground. Silver King rested on his forearms, while Juvi worked the crowd a little. Juvi tried to continue, but Silver King had trouble getting off his knees. Juvi gave a kick to the shoulder and that is when Silver King visibly stopped moving. Juvi rolled Silver King over for the three count to end the match early.
There will be a lot of questions about safety and communication. What did Silver King say to Juventud Guerrera when they were speaking? Did Silver King himself even know what was happening to his body? Why did it take over five minutes before any medical staff attended to Silver King?
