2018 was a good year for Ring of Honor’s Flip Gordon.
He showed well in a NWA title shot against Nick Aldis, had his long Being The Elite angle/running joke with Cody Rhodes payoff with an appearance at ALL IN and worked a program with Bully Ray in ROH.
In January of this year, Gordon suffered a MCL tear while wrestling Tracy Williams at the Honor Reigns Supreme event. He announced on Mar. 19 that he was cleared, and it appeared ROH was setting up his return as Bully’s surprise opponent at Madison Square Garden during next Saturday’s G1 Supercard show with New Japan.
But on Monday, after working for OTT in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Flip sent this out:
Unfortunately this morning I woke up and my knee was completely locked up. I was able to make it onto my flight and just landed back home, but still can’t bend it completely.

I have a doctors appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning! #PositiveVibes
And yesterday (Mar. 26), ROH announced that the 27 year old retired National Guardsman would miss their show in Baltimore this upcoming Sunday. The company’s story says the extent of his injury won’t be known until his MRI results are back, but “there is concern that Gordon may have suffered a ‘bucket handle’ meniscus tear, which would require surgery and keep him out of action for four-to-six months”.
If it’s anything that keeps Flip on the injured list for very long, it’s a bad break. If it just causes him to miss G1 Supercard (provided there were plans for him), it sucks.
But... this is wrestling, and ROH has used injury reports in a Bully Ray story before, so I can’t 100% rule out this being a work, or a shoot they turned into a work, in order to make a MSG appearance more of a surprise.
We shall see. Either way, sending Flip those positive vibes for good health.
