In defense of adding Charlotte Flair to Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35

WWE.com

Like all WWE viewers, I've been enthralled by the recent rise of Becky Lynch. Back at SummerSlam, my reaction to her turn was "jeez, finally" as it seemed she, more than anyone on the main roster, needed the change. I in no way intend to disrespect her here -- she's been hitting home runs now for six months straight and absolutely 100-percent has to be winning the title at WrestleMania. I vowed after she led the charge of the SmackDown assault on Raw that I would rage quit WWE if she did not main event the biggest show of the year.

However, I am going to contend that Charlotte should absolutely be in that same main event. Lynch earned every inch of her recent rise, yes, but we can't lose sight of the fact that Charlotte was the jumping off point. Charlotte perfectly filled the role of the giant shadow cast over Becky, the driving force behind her rebellion. No other woman on the roster could have pulled that off. The story they are telling feels like it's much more Charlotte vs. Becky than Becky vs. Ronda Rousey. It's too late to change this piece, but I feel that Charlotte vs. Becky should be the choice over Becky vs. Ronnie. I know there's no way Rousey isn't a part of this -- her star power is "best for business," for sure. Ultimately, then, a triple threat is the only reasonable option.

I know some people prefer one-on-one matches, but I'm a fan of the triple threat, what with its much faster pace. They can also book this so that Lynch and Flair can be feuding a la Stone Cold and The Rock for years to come

I get that Charlotte sometimes looks like the Roman Reigns of the women's division. I felt something like that coming out of her feud with Sasha Banks. But that feud doesn't work without Charlotte being this damn good. She is likely going to challenge for the title of greatest women's wrestler of all time (maybe alongside Becky, and hopefully Sasha too). I don't remember when she said this, but she put herself out there with the goal of one day being in this exact position. At the time, I never thought it possible. There was no way in my mind the women would surpass the men.

Yet here we are. It has happened.

The women must main event WrestleMania and Charlotte is as responsible for that statement than anyone else. She deserves it.
