AEW Dynamite Preview (Dec. 11, 2019): Worth the Hype?

AEW Twitter

Tonight (Dec. 11) All Elite Wrestling comes our way from Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. Last week The Young Bucks & Dustin Rhodes defeated The Inner Circle, Kris Statlander upset the rankings defeating Hikaru Shida, Cody called out The Butcher & The Blade and MJF in an epic promo, and the feud between Jon Moxley & World Champion Chris Jericho continues to percolate.

Advertised for tonight:

  • The Young Bucks & Proud -N- Powerful in a Street Fight
  • The Butcher & The Blade (with The Bunny) against Cody & QT Marshall
  • Emi Sakura vs. the newly signed Big Swole
  • MJF responds to Cody’s challenge

Here are our five questions about AEW tonight:

1) Will The Butcher & The Blade & The Bunny’s in-ring debut live up to the hype?

While many were excited by the debut of The Butcher & The Blade & The Bunny (BBB) just as many were confused as hell. Their look is certainly exciting (in a kinky kind of way) and their promo’s are just creepy enough that they are different from whatever crazy cult nonsense is happening with The Dark Order. Now it’s time for them to live up to that hype in ring!

Making this match even more interesting is the fact that MJF hand picked Cody’s partner (per his request). QT Marshall is an unknown entity in this match and we don’t know what he brings to the table, but he’s certainly ready for a fight:

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Cody needs this win to prove his point to MJF, but BBB will certainly lose all their hype if they succumb to Cody and “friend.” I smell shenanigans!

2) How violent will the Texas Street Fight be?

In their former career as LAX, PnP had a wrestling match so violent they wouldn’t show it all on TV. The Young Bucks, on the other hand, are known for their epic ladder matches and crazy high spots. My question here is how many ambulances to we have on stand by? Between their sordid history with violence and their intense hatred of each other I can only imagine this clash is going to be an epic blood bath. As they say, Everything is Bigger in Texas.

3) Will MJF’s response be worthy of Cody’s epic promo?

Cody Rhodes has proven himself to be one of the best promo’s on the wrestling scene. I mean, he gave $100 to a child. A child! I think that it’s smart to build this feud slowly by exchanging promos as they have already had a bit of a violent clash. It gives us time as the audience to really get to know MJF and really learn to hate him. He’s often lauded as one of the best promos on the indies, but I just don’t know if he can top Cody. Maybe he needs to give everyone in the front row their own Burberry tie, Oprah style...

4) Who’s Swole?

BIG SWOLE! Okay, I am a little over excited, but Big Swole (formerly known as Ariel Monroe) is one of the best indie talents out there! The AEW women’s division - while not where it should be by any means - has been on a bit of an upswing lately. Brandi & Kong are snatching wigs and gaining acolytes, Sakura is winning over the crowd, and Nyla is finally back on TV. Sure, we still don’t know what the champion is up to, but things are happening! The signing of Big Swole and Kris Statlander is very exciting and tonight we get to see Big Swole in action on Dynamite. Will she, like Statlander last week, get a big singles win over an established talent? My money says yes.

5) What’s next for Mox & Jericho?

Two weeks ago Moxley made his intentions known coming out after Jericho’s successful title defense and causing a rukus. Last week, Jericho did much the same after Mox destroyed Janela. It’s clear that Jericho and Mox are headed towards each other like two out of control freight trains (even if Jericho’s list disagrees), but with nothing advertised for either of them I’m curious to see what sorts of mayhem they cause tonight.

Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions.
