As of yesterday afternoon, AEW only had four matches booked for their next PPV event, Full Gear. We knew news would be coming quickly about more, because Full Gear happens this Saturday night (Nov. 9) in Baltimore.
There’s also been criticism of the new company’s booking and promotion of their women’s roster. Especially with WWE’s NXT brand really showing out when it comes to their female talent, this was an area All Elite had to address.
In the last 12 hours or so, they’ve taken some steps to address both.
A non-title women’s feud they’ve been building for a while - and which has some real heat to it, according to the rumor mill - is getting a spot on Full Gear’s “Buy In” pre-show. Britt Baker (who, not sure if y’all have heard, is an actual dentist) used the issues stemming from Bea Priestley giving her a concussion at Fight For The Fallen to sell the match on last night’s Dark...
.@RealBrittBaker vs @BeaPriestley is going to be nothing short of explosive this Saturday in Baltimore. Tune in at 7:30/6:30c to #AEW's Official @Youtube channel for #TheBuyIn - https://t.co/S97K8JmOtb pic.twitter.com/FATFnN8QpH

Then, this morning, the company announced a title defense for Women’s champion Riho. It’s the bout most were expecting based off the four-way match on the Oct. 29 edition of Dark, where Emi Sakura defeated Penelope Ford, Allie, and Sadie Gibbs. There’s also history there, as Sakura trained Riho earlier in the champ’s career.
The #AEW Women's World Championship will be defended at #AEWFullGear when @riho_gtmv puts her championship on the line against @EmiSakura_gtmv
