AEW announces more major matches for tonight: Women’s #1 vs #2, Omega defending AAA title on Dark

The November 20 episode of AEW Dynamite was already stacked with Jon Moxley versus Darby Allin, Nick Jackson versus Fenix, Santana & Ortiz versus Private Party, the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal, and a huge announcement from Le Champion Chris Jericho. Add two more major bouts to the evening’s slate: Britt Baker versus Hikaru Shida on Dynamite and Kenny Omega defending the AAA Megacampeonato against Jack Evans on Dark.

Baker vs Shida should be a de facto number one contender match. Baker is tops of the women’s rankings at #1, while Shida rolls in at #2. If the winner does not receive a title shot against Riho for the AEW Women’s World Champion, then what are we even doing with the rankings?

Personally, I’ll be pulling for Shida to win. Baker falls flat for me. Her dental Lockjaw submission is kind of cool, but that’s about it. Shida carries a sword to the ring. Not even Isaac Yankem DDS can compete with the coolness of a sword.

The other big bout will see Kenny Omega defend the AAA Mega Championship against Mexico’s favorito, el cholo güero de Tepito, the man, the myth, the legend, Jack Evans from the heavens. That will be filmed for Dark to be aired next Tuesday (Nov. 26) at 7 pm ET on AEW’s YouTube channel.

Great move by AEW. Since they have a partnership with AAA and Omega is the Mega Champ, they might as well get use out of that belt. What better way than to turn Dark into a must-see episode. Plus, the match is guaranteed to be exciting with Evans in the ring.

I do have to call AEW management out for protecting Omega. First, they turned Omega’s match against Jon Moxley into an unsanctioned bout to protect his precious win/loss record. Now, they are giving Omega another edge but not even bothering to inform Evans about the title opportunity.

Evans learned of the match over Twitter while showing Fist of the North Star to his sister’s children.

Good thing Evans’ tag partner, Angelico, is here to provide strategy in lieu of a training session for Omega’s V-Trigger.

If Omega does manage to get past Evans, he will have another tough test against Dragon Lee at AAA’s Triplemania Regia on December 1.

Also for Dark, Big Swole versus Shanna will take place in singles action.

Who are you rooting for in Britt Baker versus Hikaru Shida? How about Kenny Omega versus Jack Evans for the AAA Megacampeonato? Does that title matchup make you interested enough to watch Dark?

Get in the mood for Dynamite tonight with the show preview and stay hip with live results.
