Time for AEW Hot Topic. A topic will be presented for discussion and the numbers will be polled. The question for today is: Do you stand with the Elite or the Inner Circle?
Two primary factions have emerged to battle for supremacy in AEW. The Inner Circle currently consists of Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz. Since the Inner Circle has five members, let’s go with the five prominent pals in the Elite. Cody Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks. Feel free to consider the second tier Elite into your decision.
Faction warfare has been a stimulating storytelling tool in professional wrestling for ages. It can drive fans to support one side or the other in a very devoted manner. That’s part of the fun. I don’t have a pulse on the way the wind is blowing in AEW in regard to the Elite versus the Inner Circle, so I’m quite curious to know which group is the fan favorite at this moment.
Where do I stand?
Inner Circle, suckas. It is no contest in my personal preferences. The Inner Circle is so much cooler. Who wouldn’t want to drink a little bit of the bubbly with rockstar Chris Jericho? Le Champion is a dynamo of entertainment and fashion icon. Jake Hager is a ball-busting badass. He is a perfect fit for the enforcer role. Sammy Guevara is a Spanish god with a dope panda head cape. I do wish he would wear it more often, especially with the hood down. Those fangs give off an aura of ferocity. Guevara may need to channel that when he evolves past his pretty boy stage. Santana and Ortiz are back-alley brutes bringing classic means of menacing via loaded socks and powerbombing their elders. All together, the Inner Circle is a perfect blend to complement each other, baby.
In comparison, the Elite are a bunch of dorks. Highly skilled wrestlers, but dorks nonetheless. The Young Bucks are bell-bottom wearing flower children. I don’t understand Kenny Omega. I’m not hip to his references. He does have a bad haircut though. Dustin Rhodes is weird. I will give credit to Cody Rhodes. He looks slick in a suit. However, he loses points for wearing a weight belt in the ring. It comes across as grandpa style. The Elite just don’t float my boat as a group I want to back.
No matter how I feel, the best part is that all ten can put on quality matches in the ring. That means we’re the real winners of watching this war.
That’s my take. What’s yours? Do you stand with the Elite or the Inner Circle?
