AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 9
Just a step cried the sad man, take a look down at the madman. Theatre kings on silver wings fly beyond reason. From the flight of the seagull come the spread claws of the eagle. Only fear breaks the silence as we all kneel, pray for guidance. Tread the road cross the abyss, take a look down at the madness. On the streets of the city, only spectres still have pity, but me, I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with the intro video.
We get a video package for Young Bucks vs. Private Party.
Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) vs. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match)
Nick and Kassidy to start, bit of light mat grappling, giving way to lucha libre, Isiah has the superkick scouted! Charging in, Jackson with a back suplex, land on his feet, Matt tags in. Clear the apron, off the ropes, slingshot dropkick, gutbuster into a neckbreaker takes Kassidy out! Quick tags, working the Private Party man over, clear the apron again, double suplex, land on his feet, low bridge puts Matt to the floor.
Baseball slide, alley oop to the apron, all shoulders and kicks into an Asai moonsault! Slingshot back in, slide low, roll through, tag to Quen! Diving crossbody, fired up, suicide dive, back inside, dive right out the other side! In one more time, another dive, and then number four is a Sasuke Special! Up top, 450 splash... NOT ENOUGH! Nick sidesteps the charge, up and over, Matt nails him with the superkick, Superkick Party takes Kassidy out!
Bucks fired up, sunset flip powerbomb over the ropes and on the steel ramp takes Isiah out! Corner kick is a bad situation for Marq, powerbomb / shiranui combo... NOPE! Sharpshooter applied, Quen is able to crawl and get the ropes! Taking him to the corner, beating him down, snapmare into stomps to the head for another nearfall. Double whip, hip toss, backflips into dropkicks, again just two!
Matt tags in, Marq fires up, double leg, tag back to Nick, enzuigiri connects and Quen is sprawled across Matt’s knees for the double stomp! Malfunction at the junction, Marq so close to a tag he can taste it but Matt blocks! Whip to the corner, boot up on the charge, up and over but Nick pulls Kassidy from the apron! Matt with a spear for two, jawing at Quen and beating him down, Nick comes in, double suplex attempt gets a double Pele kick and all three men are down!
Tag to Isiah, up top, double missile dropkick! Kip-up, his back is hurting but he’s game against the Young Bucks, double Frankensteiner! Fired up, calling for it, forearms on forearms but Matt is able to lay an elbow into his back to stun him. Assist from Quen, Silly String blocked, Jackson with the rolling northern lights suplexes into a bridge... SO CLOSE!
Drawing Kassidy up, powerbomb into the corner with the enzuigiri sets up the Sharpshooter, Nick dumps Marq to the floor as Matt sits down into Isiah’s injured back but Kassidy crawls... NICK JACKSON DROPS HIM WITH AN X-FACTOR! MATT SITS WAY DOWN BUT ISIAH KASSIDY GETS THE ROPES! Fireman’s carry, blind tag from Quen, malfunction at the junction, Poison Frankensteiner!
Marq snaps off a Frankensteiner... AND ISIAH FINISHES IT WITH AN ACE CRUSHER-- GIN AND JUICE! Quen up top... SHOOTING STAR PRESS ISN’T ENOUGH TO PUT THE YOUNG BUCKS AWAY! Clubbing away, getting frustrated, Matt slips under, pumphandles, Kassidy blocks the Meltzer Driver and Quen capitalizes...
Private Party win by pinfall with a victory roll from Marq Quen on Matt Jackson.
Los Gueros del Cielo and SCU are shown in the crowd, stunned at the upset.
Private Party celebrate in the crowd as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Private Party are still celebrating.
Chris Jericho makes his entrance, flanked by the erstwhile LAX, Jake Hager, and Sammy Guevara.
Y2J gets on the mic and introduces himself as the champion and says the debut episode of Dynamite took the world by storm last week and takes all the credit. He talks about how his group proved themselves last week and they’re the next and now. He calls them his confidants, the closest men he’s ever met, and they’re going to keep working together and they do have a name.
He introduces Sammy Guevara as a sexy Spanish god and one of the greatest performers his age in a long time, and that’s why he made the list. Ortiz and Santana are next and he says he personally recruited them and they’re ready to fight, angry and ready, back alley brutes, and that’s why they made his list. And then there’s the giant behind him, you may think you know who he is, but Jake Hager is the most terrifying, crazy MMA fighter in the world today.
A “We the people!” chant goes up and Jericho says that’s dead, a bad idea from bad creative and that’s gone and buried. Chris resumes and says Hager is undefeated in MMA and that makes him the toughest man in the entire pro wrestling business. He dubs his group the Inner Circle and says they’re taking control of AEW now. He doesn’t care if you’re the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, or “that stupid son of a bitch” Cody, who’s been entitled by his famous family his entire life.
He doesn’t like Cody or his family. He thought Dusty Rhodes was a jerk, he thinks Dustin Rhodes is a moron and he’s gonna kick his ass tonight, and at Full Gear on November 9, Y2J is going to beat the everliving shit out of Cody Rhodes and then they’re gonna walk the streets of Baltimore and have a little bit of the bubbly.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial in time for entrances.
Jimmy Havoc gets a picture in picture promo about the unhuman amounts of violence he’s been through in his career and how he’s going to make Darby Allin feel his pain and become #1 contender to the title.
Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc (AEW World Championship #1 Contender’s Match)
Allin offers a handshake but Havoc uses it as an excuse to look for the Acid Rainmaker, ducked, La Casita... only two! Jackknife pin, still no good, Jimmy spits at him, off the ropes, jockeying for position, springboard arm drag sets him up in the corner, back elbow connects. Charging in, sidestepp, boots up, roll over, dropkick into the corner sends Havoc sprawling on the apron.
Looking for a suplex over the ropes, Jimmy bites his hand, shoulder thrust... JIMMY HAVOC FALCON ARROW OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR! Back inside, Jimmy laying in disdainful kicks, Darby throwing desperate punches and he gets his hand stomped for his trouble. Armbar, wrenching back, into the ropes, breaking at referee Bryce Remsburg’s command. Whip hard into the turnbuckles, back into the Fujiwara armbar and wrenching the fingers!
Back elbow out of the corner, up and over, uppercut, back roll, Allin running hot but Havoc catches him in an elevated sleeper hold in the corner! Transition into a sleeper suplex and Darby rolls to the floor to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Allin throwing punches, rolling elbow from Havoc... SO CLOSE! Blu-Ray follows, underhooks... TIGER DRIVER ‘98 BUT DARBY GETS HIS HAND ON THE ROPES! Jimmy puts boots to him in frustration, thinking Acid Rainmaker but Allin bites him to block... STANDING DIAMOND DUST! Up top...

Falcon Arrow, following up with a Romero Special, tag to Bea, clear the apron, they end up brawling on the floor!
Sakura rolls with it, choking Riho in the corner while Britt lands a Lou Thesz Press and punches away on Priestley! Knee lifts, suplex blocked, Emi comes out for the save and they suplex the good doctor together! Riho dives on both with a crossbody! And so we go to break.

Post-match, referee Aubrey Edwards has to separate Priestley and Baker repeatedly!

Chuck Taylor passes the interview to Orange Cassidy, who gives his trademark thumbs up.

He gets up and oh, hey, it’s Shawn Spears making his entrance, accompanied by Tully Blanchard.

Moxley posts up, upkicks to break, Shawn knees him right through the ropes! Spears runs the ropes, suicide dive! Back inside, Jon off the ropes, suicide dive of his own! Back inside, corner lariat, forearms, Mox running hot, hard knee, whip reversed.
Boot up in the corner, knee pad down, knee trembler... SO CLOSE! Drawing Shawn up, fireman’s carry counters, slip out, trade chops in the middle of the ring! Forearms, off the ropes, pump kick, Moxley decks him with a lariat! Calling for it, underhooks, nope, Ushigoroshi counters... NOPE! Fireman’s carry two, countered...
Jon Moxley wins by pinfall with Paradigm Shift.
Kenny Omega is here! He’s carrying a barbed wire bat and a barbed wire broom! Mox confronts him on the ramp and Omega throws him the bat! PAC BLINDSIDES HIM WITH A STEEL CHAIR TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD! PAC leaves, damage done, and Mox stands over him for a moment before ditching the bat and leaving, to send us to break.
Back from commercial in time for main event entrances.
”Hangman” Adam Page & Dustin Rhodes vs. Inner Circle (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara)
Rhodes and Guevara (or Red Bondage and Bumblebee Underpants, per my girlfriend) to start, Jericho gets involved and Dustin brawls with him on the floor! Pass into the post, Jake Hager looking on as referee Bryce Remsburg struggles to regain order and Rhodes dumps Y2J over the barricade! Taking Sammy back inside, whip reversed, flying lariat, tag to Page.
Hangman comes in with a whip-assisted lariat and they lay Guevara out together. Whip, duck a lariat, catch the crossbody and turn it into a fallaway slam! Kip-up, plancha, Hangman fired up! Duck a roundhouse kick, bridging pumphandle suplex for two! Big chop to follow, tag back to Rhodes. Big slicing right, hammer whip, putting boots to him, double knee into a knee and a fall-forward back suplex, running shooting star press... JERICHO BREAKS IT UP!
Adam with a body slam, perching up top, Y2J runs interference and Guevara climbs to meet him, fireman’s carry drop into the top turnbuckle! Cover for two, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Jericho is working Page over in the ropes. Off the ropes, running knee to the back of the head and Y2J poses for the crowd. Choking Hangman over the ropes, counting along with Remsburg but Adam manages to evade another running knee after! Tag to Guevara, he cuts Page off from the tag and puts boots to him! Cover for two, side headlock applied and Hangman breaks loose with a back suplex.
Jericho tags in, disdainful slaps, pulling Page’s hair, off the ropes, catch him with a back elbow, Lionsault... THE KNEES ARE UP! Hangman crawling and desperate, Sammy pulls him back, Adam with elbows, off the ropes, discus lariat gets him the breathing room he wants! Crawling, reaching... TAG TO RHODES! Big right hand, whip across, lariat connects, drop down slap, Manhattan Drop, off the ropes for a boot and Jericho comes in so he gets the same!
Up top, turning crossbody from the Natural! Whip across, back body drop scouted but Dustin lowers the bridge and Page drops him with the Orihara moonsault! Hager runs Hangman over, Jericho tags in, Rhodes hits the Yoshi Tonic... STILL NO! Fired up and fighting mad, Dustin sets Chris up in the corner, snap scoop powerslam to Sammy when he charges in, referee Bryce Remsburg occupied... AND JAKE HAGER BLINDSIDES RHODES!
Jericho up and gasping, lining Rhodes up....
Inner Circle win by pinfall with the Judas Effect from Chris Jericho on Dustin Rhodes.
Post-match, the Inner Circle put boots to Dustin Rhodes! Hangman makes the save but Hager takes him out with a lariat! Page returns the favor with a chairshot and they brawl up the ramp! Jericho tells Cody he’s gonna pay and he’ll see Darby next week. He calls the babyfaces stupid idiots and says the Inner Circle is taking control.
That’s the show, folks.
