It’s a good night to be from Southern California.
AEW’s seven team, month long tag team tournament to crown the promotion’s first champions concluded this week on Dynamite.
After beating Jurassic Express and Private Party, The Lucha Brothers won their half of the bracket. SCU defeated the Best Friends and upset The Dark Order to advance to the finals.
The tale of the title match was Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky’s power versus the speed of Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix. SCU was great, but the Lucha Bros were just operating on another level.

Despite all signs pointing towards Pentagon and Fenix becoming champions, SCU hung around long enough to pull off a little magic. In a match featuring multiple high spots, a heady move from Sky is what got the three count.
After a wild powerbomb through the timekeeper’s table, back inside the ring Scorpio Sky hit an inside cradle on Pentagon Jr. for the win amidst all the chaos.

Did anyone pick SCU to run through the bracket and become AEW’s first tag team champions?
