AEW Dynamite Preview (Oct. 30, 2019): Convoluted

AEW.com

Tonight (Oct. 30) All Elite Wrestling comes our way from the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, West Virginia. Last week the semi-finals of the tag team tournament concluded, we traveled to Brittsburgh, Cody punched a window and Mox vs. PAC ended in a time limit draw.

Advertised for tonight:

  • SCU vs. Lucha Bros for the first ever AEW World Tag Team championship
  • The Elite vs. Angelico, Jack Evans & Kip Sabian
  • Adam Page vs. Sammy Guevara
  • AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Cody sign their Full Gear contract
  • Rick & Morty appearance
  • Jon Moxley “in action”
  • Best Friends & Orange Cassidy “in action”

Here are our five questions about AEW tonight:

1) Who will be the first ever AEW Tag Team champions?

The Tag Team Championship tournament ends tonight as AEW crowns it’s first ever Tag Team champions. The tournament itself has led to some spectacular matches (SCU versus The Best Friends!) and some shocking upsets (Young Bucks out in the first round!) and now we are here: SCU versus The Lucha Bros. Who will win? My money is on SCU. AEW already has a heel champion and, frankly, The Lucha Bros don’t need any help. They are already one of the most over tag teams in the world. SCU, on the other hand, while not necessarily in need of a title are beloved by the crowd and have exceedingly excellent chemistry with every tag team they step into a ring with. And, frankly, Scorpio Sky deserves to have some gold. He wrestled with one shoe! Regardless of who wins don’t expect this feud to end anytime soon. Once Christopher Daniels heals up he’s going to want some revenge on the Lucha Bros for their sneaky attack.

2) So, Rick & Morty...how?

I know Rick & Morty is a very popular show (for good reason), but it’s a cartoon! How is this going to work? Why exactly is this happening? It seems a bit strange that a show that has yet to figure out backstage segments and long term storytelling (outside of their YouTube show) is already bringing in “celebrity” guests. I just hope they bring enough schezwan sauce for everyone.

3) Will Jericho and Cody’s contract signing further clarify their convoluted match rules?

Last week Mox vs. PAC ended in a time limit draw canonically making such an event a possibility for AEW. Cool...unless AEW doesn’t want one of it’s matches to end in a draw. To prevent such a thing, AEW announced that the Cody versus Jericho championship match will be watched by three judges and should it come to a draw they will make the final decision as to who the winner is.

How very IMPACT of them.

Maybe more glass punching and fewer rules will help the crowd get hype for this match? Just a thought.

4) Speaking of Full Gear, will they announce a women’s match tonight?

We are a little over two weeks away from their first PPV since the weekly television show premiered and they have yet to announce a women’s championship match, let alone a women’s match for Full Gear. We can assume at least one match will eventually make it’s way onto the card (most likely the championship match), but nothing happening in the women’s division right night is giving us a clear picture as to who will face the champion. No consistent story line has been developed and while we get snippets of story lines and feuds here and there (Britt/Priestly, Riho/Nyla, Brandi/Allie) nothing is screaming “this will 100% be THE match.” They really should fix that. Preferably, before November 9th.

5) What’s up with Brandi and her angry finger pointing?

Last week Jamie Hayter lost her match against Britt Baker. Then she was attacked backstage by Brandi Rhodes who then pointed AGGRESSIVELY at the correspondent interviewing Hayter. It was AWKWARD and I would like to know the reason, please. Did she hire Jamie to take out Britt so she was mad that she lost? Does she hate the correspondent? Was she looking for Allie and upon not finding her decided to take it out on Hayter? Did someone steal her clearly labeled yogurt from the staff fridge??? What? Is? Happening?

Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions.
