AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 30
His steed of fury, eyes of fire and mane ablaze. Demonic vultures stalking, drawn by the smell of war and pain. He roams the starways searching for the carcasses of war, but if it’s hungry then its very presence disrupts the calm into the storm. Curse and damn you all you’ll fall by the hand of the Sinner, but me, I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show, folks.
The show opens with Tony Schiavone standing in front of a plane talking about tonight’s contract signing.
Dustin Rhodes gets out first, followed by Cody.
They embrace and Dustin goes his own way as Tony and Cody walk off together talking about the match.
A video package covering the events leading up to the Full Gear matches between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega and PAC and Hangman Page follows, including a nice long segment where Mox argues with Tony Khan behind closed doors about his match being unsanctioned and not counting towards win/loss records.
Commentary hypes tonight’s events up.
”Hangman” Adam Page vs. Sammy Guevara
Collar and elbow, into the ropes, neither man with a real advantage and referee Rick Knox counts the break. Page breaks with a confident touch of the chest. Adam laying his chops in, whip across, duck a lariat, big boot connects and Guevara is on the back foot. Straight suplex to follow, still just two! Sammy blocks the back suplex, lands on his feet, shove, leapfrog, backflip, dropkick and a kip-up!
Soaking in the attention from the crowd, snap suplex gets two, and Guevara lays chops in. Page charges him into the corner, paintbrush slaps, Sammy with the boot up but Hangman catches the diving crossbody and converts to a fallaway slam and a kip-up of his own! Lariat sends Guevara to the floor, Page follows after but Sammy trips him up on the apron!
Back inside, Guevara with a fireman’s carry, doing squats to set up a Samoan drop, only a nearfall! Up top, Sammy drops back down and just slaps Adam across the face! Page laying chops in, incensed, whip reversed, short-arm lariat ducked, sidestep the Pele but he walks into the lariat! Hangman recovers, superkick, both men are down and out!
Corner lariat, sending Guevara off the ropes, big boot, back suplex, and he rolls to the apron. Hangman follows, thinking Deadeye, Sammy slips out and hits a gamengiri. To the apron, charging... PAGE GETS HIM WITH A SIDE SLAM ON THE APRON! Back inside, picture perfect powerbomb... SO CLOSE! Guevara outside again, Page up top, Orihara moonsault! Adam thinking Buckshot, Sammy runs away, Page ducks a backfist but eats a knee!
Rolling elbow, charge in, back body drop to the apron, gets him into position...
”Hangman” Adam Page wins by pinfall with Buckshot.
Post-match Page gets on the mic and says things haven’t been going real good for him lately but tonight felt good, and at Full Gear he’s gonna do some real Cowboy Shit and take PAC’s head off!
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial in time for entrances.
Hikaru Shida vs. Shanna
Circling, collar and elbow, jockeying for position, to the apron and Shida nails her with a kick to the midsection! Setting up a chair on the floor, poetry in motion knee strike! Back inside, probing kicks, a backbreaker, and Hikaru continues to work her back over with strikes! Corner knee, Shanna fighting back with palm strikes but Shida nails her with a series of knees to cut her right back off!
Front chancery, small package counters... NOPE! More strikes to the spine, Shanna ends up hanging on the ropes! Turning around and throwing chops, fired up, Portugal’s Perfect Athlete sends us to break.
Back from commercial, Shanna gets her hung up in the tree of woe... DIVING DOUBLE STOMP ISN’T ENOUGH! Following it up, drawing her up, slaps across the spine, underhooks but Shida slips out of the lift! Bringing her around... BEACH BREAK! Hikaru headed up top with Shanna on the apron, wrist control, pulling her up... DEADLIFT SUPERPLEX FOR A NEARFALL!
Off the ropes, Shanna counters a kick, schoolboy pin gets a nearfall. Dragon suplex reversed, reversed again, victory roll pin... SHIDA BARELY KICKS OUT! Shanna off the ropes, Shida ducks a lariat, running knee strike, Falcon Arrow... NO! Off the ropes...
Hikaru Shida wins by pinfall with a sliding knee.
We get a weird Brandi Rhodes video package in which she puts on a tiny hat and has some magic mascara that makes her eyes glow and she cuts a lock of blonde hair with a cleaver and also Awesome Kong is there?
The Rock ‘n Roll Express are introduced to talk up the history of the building-- SANTANA AND ORTIZ BLINDSIDE RICKY AND ROBERT! They beat Ricky Morton down, because of course they do, and hit him in the midsection with a sock full of quarters... THEY POWERBOMB 63-YEAR-OLD RICKY MORTON THROUGH THE STAGE! THE YOUNG BUCKS MAKE THE SAVE AND WE GO TO BREAK!
Back from commercial the Beaver Boys are chilling in the ring for some reason.
Cut to Cody Rhodes and Tony Schiavone.
Tony tells him a story about meeting Dusty Rhodes butt naked and learning that the star always comes out last, and Cody talks about how his mom is here tonight and he can’t stop thinking about how many times she saw his dad work.
Back to the ring, Rick & Morty introduce Best Friends and Orange Cassidy, who are dressed like them.
Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) & QT Marshall vs. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?) & Orange Cassidy
Taylor and Silver to start, Chuck hip checks him, tag to Trent, his wig falls off, double shoulder block and flex. Beretta with chops, John rips the wig off and his partners hit the ring to clear it! Silver with a hammer whip, Reynolds and Marshall charge in, too, Trent hits a tornado DDT on Silver! Tag to Taylor, in hot, lariats, standing shiranui connects!
Jumping knee for Silver, blind tag, Trent hits a big knee of his own, Sole Food / half and half combo on Reynolds! Orange Cassidy slides in the ring opposite Marshall and lays in short shin kicks. Roll under the lariat, no-hands dropkick and referee Bryce Remsburg puts his glasses back on him! Off the ropes... NO HANDS SUICIDE DIVE! Best Friends have Silver...
Best Friends & Orange Cassidy win by pinfall with Strong Zero from Best Friends on John Silver.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Chris Jericho makes his entrance and takes a seat for the contract signing.
Cody Rhodes is shown pulling up in his limousine and he takes his spot.
Tony Schiavone introduces them and puts the contract in front of Cody. He signs, and the contract is passed to Jericho, who fakes out a confrontation before saying this match is too important to flip a table over or powerbomb Rhodes over. It’s the biggest match in AEW history, the biggest pro wrestling match this year, and the biggest match of Cody’s career, because if he wins, he’ll be what he’s always wanted, a world champion.
But if he loses, it might prove to Cody and all these millennial jackasses here tonight that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. So he’s gonna sign the contract and show Cody what it’s like to be a loser. They get up and square up and Chris puts over how serious they’re treating this, and offers Rhodes a hand. Cody shakes but refuses to let go and pulls him in close!
Rhodes says something we can’t quite hear and Y2J takes his glasses off before saying he can be there all night but he might be needed elsewhere.
The screen behind them comes to life with Sammy Guevara before panning to Jake Hager beating Dustin Rhodes down and slamming him into a car! A KNEE TO THE GENTLEMAN’S AREA! JAKE SLAMS DUSTIN’S ARM IN THE BACK DOOR! CODY AND MJF MAKE THE SAVE!
Chris Jericho smokes a cigar and jokes about how they should take Dustin to a hospital before bidding everyone a happy Halloween and driving off to send us to break.
Back from commercial in time for entrances.
We get an Undertale-style video package centered around Kenny Omega and he comes out dressed as Sans.
Kip Sabian & the Hybrid 2 (Angelico & Jack Evans) vs. the Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)
Heels with the beatdown at the bell, big dive from Sabian! Omega fights off TH2, double Kotaro Krusher, Bucks make the save, dropkicks! Stereo gamengiris, diving double stomp, taking Kip out! Setting up the Terminator dive but Evans and Angelico pull the Bucks out and Jack nails Kenny with a springboard kick... SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP! Sabian back inside with Matt, straight suplex for two.
Setting Jackson up top, springboard Frankensteiner... NOPE! Tag to Evans, double whip, handspring elbow, springboard stomp combo sets up a grounded octopus hold to send us to break.
Back from commercial and the Bucks are in control. Sabian floats over, Deathly Hallows denied, Poison Frankensteiner connects! Omega ducks a 540 kick from Evans, Dragon suplex on Angelico, big chop on Kip! Block the Dragon, second try Dragon suplex connects and Kenny’s running hot! Flair Flops in triplicate, Omega lines Jack up for a V-Trigger... denied! Evans with a rolling kick, Matt powerbombs him into an enzuigiri!
Everybody does something cool, Angelico upkick, jockeying for position in the corner, Nick slips out of a crucifix powerbomb and Kenny hits the V-Trigger! Omega off the ropes, Sabian cuts him off and dumps him to the floor! Sabian mocking the Terminator dive, off the ropes... TOPE CON GIRO CAUGHT AND COUNTERED INTO A POWERBOMB INTO THE APRON! Evans springboards into a Superkick Party!
Kenny off the ropes... V-TRIGGER! Electric chair...
The Elite win by pinfall with One-Winged Angel from Kenny Omega on Jack Evans.
The Bucks are confronted by Ortiz and Santana, who were masked and in the front row! They pull Matt and Nick in for a beatdown and run off before Omega can make the save, and that sends us to break.
Back from commercial, the Librarians make their entrance.
Peter Avalon shushes the crowd and says it’s Halloween time and it means that it’s appropriate for all us hideous monsters to look the way we do. He and Leva Bates were at the university library today and they discovered that this place is rotten.
Jon Moxley comes through the crowd to save us all... PARADIGM SHIFT!
He gets on the mic and says the match that everybody wants to see at Full Gear, Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley, is now an unsanctioned match. That means no time limits, no countouts, no disqualifications, no rules. That’s all well and good, but then they tell him that officially this match doesn’t count. It’ll be stricken from the record book, technically it’ll never have happened.
So in other words, when Mox beats your boy, we’re gonna just pretend like it never happened. He knows what’s happening, AEW want to treat him like a freak and an outsider and keep him in his little box. He’s been dealing with it his whole life, these suits, these yes-men puppets, telling him he’s a different kind of cat like he doesn’t know he’s being insulted.
Well he ain’t stupid, and if this is how it’s gonna be, AEW can take their win/loss record and shove it up their ass, because fact is he’s the baddest, sickest son of a bitch in this game and there ain’t a soul in AEW that can prove him wrong. They want unsanctioned? Well he’s unsanctionable! You think he’s out of control, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
Be careful what you wish for, because at Full Gear, he’s gonna beat Kenny Omega within an inch of his life, beautiful wrestling violence like hasn’t been seen in this country for decades. He’s got a message for the execs that don’t want to sanction him, the same thing he’d tell anybody that doesn’t like that he marches to his own drum-- kiss his ass and stay the hell out of his way.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial in time for our main event introductions.
Lucha Brothers (Pentagon, Jr. & Rey Fenix) vs. SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) (AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Finals)
Kazarian and Pentagon to start, trading palm strikes, windmill punches, Sky and Fenix get into it and we’ve got a broken down brawl! SCU pull ahead, all spit and vinegar, but the Lucha Bros fire off stereo superkicks! Overwhelming Scorpio, lungblower, Penta catches Frankie with the half nelson driver... ONLY TWO! Off the ropes, Sling Blade, Luchas running hot.
Sky fighting back in the corner, double whip, monkey flip puts Kazarian into Penta and Rey with a double clothesline! Frankie slugging it out with Fenix, back body drop Penta to the apron, guillotine leg drop connects and Scorpio hits a headscossros takeover to follow! Drop toehold sets Fenix up, rolling solebutt, German suplex, only two! Rey gouging Kazarian’s eyes, block the lariat, knuckle lock, double jump front flip lucha arm drag!
Pentagon with an electric chair, Sky lands on his feet on the steel steps but gets superkicked! Double leg, failure to catapult Kazarian but Fenix dives on him to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Kazarian down and out in the corner, Sky fighting made to come in but referee Aubrey Edwards demands a tag. Dropkick connects, only two, Frankie breaks out, striking away on both men, Angel’s Wings catches Fenix! Tag to Sky! Scorpio in hot, lariats, dropkick, line Penta up, get back body dropped to the apron. Slingshot tijeras, back to Fenix, back elbow to break away from a waistlock, tope con giro on Pentagon!
Dropkick from Rey cuts Sky off, Kazarian up top... DIVING FRANKENSTEINER TO THE FLOOR BUT FRANK’S BACK HIT THE APRON HARD! Back in the ring, assisted DDT, off the ropes, satellite DDT... NO! Penta breaks away, springboard flip piledriver connects! Scorpio with a boot but he comes off the ropes right into a huge Ace Crusher from Fenix... STILL NO!
Rey waistlock, break free, double crossbody and both men are down and out! Penta baseball slide, catch a kick from Kazarian, pull him out... POWERBOMB THROUGH THE TIMEKEEPER’S TABLE! Back inside, assisted splash... SKY KICKS OUT! Jockeying for position...
SCU win by pinfall with a small package from Scorpio Sky to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
SCU celebrate while Pentagon argues with referee Aubrey Edwards.
That’s the show, folks.
