Rumor Roundup (Jan. 5, 2019): AJ Styles deal, NXT call ups, AEW, Double or Nothing location, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Although there’s been talk about his contract coming up, AJ Styles is expected to stay with WWE in the coming years.
  • The NXT call ups who have been advertised for some time now are expected to start showing up as early as next week.
  • Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the AEW rally being held on Jan. 8, the same night as SmackDown, was coincidental. It was just the earliest it could happen after Wrestle Kingdom.
  • He also says Double or Nothing is likely happening in April and will likely take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. They expect to outdraw ALL IN.
  • Sports Pro Media says Sinclair is in talks with the Yankees and Cubs to partner up for regional networks in 2020. That could mean ROH in major markets here soon.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it. And check our weekly Rumor Look Back here to keep track of how often rumors turn out to be correct!
