The opening bout at NXT TakeOvers lately has been show stealing tag team matches.
Tonight’s TakeOver: Phoenix at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona was no different.
The Undisputed ERA defended their titles against the War Raiders, who have been gunning for the champs for months now. To try to get an advantage on their larger opponents, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong tried to attack Hanson and Rowe prior to the challengers getting settled.
But that didn’t work as the Raiders used their size to take a quick advantage.
Unfortunately, an errant suicide dive by Hanson left Rowe at the mercy of both members of the ERA for awhile. And when the Undisputed ERA have an opponent cornered, that’s where they are at their best.
Of course, you can’t keep a good War Raider down for too long. Hanson finally tagged in and went nuts on the champions.
Yes sir! @WarBeardHanson

After an incredible back and forth, the champs delivered their high/low tandem. But it wasn’t enough to retain their titles.
In the end, it was the raw strength of the War Raiders that won them the tag titles as Rowe delivered a powerbomb/powerslam combo on both O’Reilly and Strong and then Fallout on Kyle that earned them the 1-2-3.
