Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Chris Jericho’s deal with AEW is not exclusive, says Wrestling Observer Radio. He still wants to do a match with Hiroshi Tanahashi. Along with the Kenny Omega situation discussed yesterday, Jericho could be a reason New Japan works with All Elite sooner rather than later.
  • On Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also said there are wrestlers in WWE interested in talking to AEW so they can explore their options, but there’s also a “wait and see” attitude about the new promotion’s long-term viability.
  • Fightful says they reached out to WWE Superstars for their thoughts on All Elite’s launch. Many weren’t comfortable commenting, even anonymously. Others said they were glad for more options of places to work, and thought Impact would be hit the hardest.
  • Piper Niven, who reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 Mae Young Classic, is expected to sign with WWE when her World of Sport contract expires, according to WOR. AEW was supposedly very interested in signing her.
  • Some speculation about Apollo Crews recent booking on PW Insider Elite Audio has resulted in headlines about a possible push.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
