Week fifteen of Lucha Underground’s fourth season will once again be featuring two championship bouts. Get ready for the action as it airs tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network.
Here are three things I’ve got my eye on for this episode.
1. Can Pentagon survive death and the hunter?
Oh, you say you like threesomes? Well, you’re in for a treat. Pentagon DARK will be defending the Lucha Underground Championship against both Mil Muertes and King Cuerno. Bring the pain.
Last week, Mil Muertes and King Cuerno punched each other so much that they became annoyed when referee Marty Elias tried to get in the middle. They pushed him out of the way, which resulted in a double disqualification. Antonio Cueto rewarded their violent natures by crowning them both number one contender. Three-way delight!
I don’t know what to expect other than toughness to the max. The bout could be pure lucha libre or pure violence. Either way would be entertaining, given who is involved. A case could easily be made for each of the three competitors to come out victorious. I’m going to root for King Cuerno. Mil Muertes has had his championship reign already. A win by Cuerno could shift the Temple’s stories into a different direction.

2. Will Marty Martinez’s bribe pay off?
The Moth is back in the Temple & he's challenging Dragon Azteca Jr for the Gift Of The Gods Championship! Last week, Marty Martinez slapped down fat stacks of cash on Antonio Cueto’s desk to buy a Gift of the Gods Championship match against El Dragon Azteca Jr. It is the Moth Tribe’s attempt to take force their way into taking what is precious to Pentagon DARK.
A win by Marty would be interesting, but I’m actually more intrigued to witness the aftermath of a Mothchismo loss. Where does he go from there? Marty wants revenge on Pentagon, but how will he get it? Mariposa wants the Lucha Underground Championship for the Moth Tribe, but how will Marty get that opportunity after losing to Azteca?
Oh, let’s not forget that Marty paid Cueto for a second favor as the episode cliffhanger. I’m guessing he stacks the deck in his favor against Azteca; a three-way with Mariposa or a special guest referee Mariposa? Oh wait, we can see the referee in the Twitter photo above. So much for that special ref idea.
The episode tease says, “Melissa Santos and Aerostar notice a change in Fenix.” Wow, we have some true detectives on our hands. Fenix is a bit different? You don’t say. After last week, who would have thunk it? I’m sure whatever scene they put together will be cool, but that description makes Melissa and Aerostar sound like dolts.
I’m curious how the wrestling aspect of the Fenix story unfolds. Will he go rabid in solo action? Will he challenge Aero to the Star? Is Fenix capable of flow thinking or is he only reactionary? Does he even recognize Melissa to the m-fing Santos?
Enjoy the show tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network. Who are you rooting for in the main event? Would you rather be hunted by King Cuerno or stalked by Mil Muertes? What do you think Marty’s second favor will be? What are your expectations for Fenix in his current state?
