When is it too many PPV's???

This Sunday will be the 10th WWE PPV/ Special Event. That still leaves 4 to go for this year. Looking at the card for the Upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV, I have come to the conclusion that WWE has too many of these shows now. The main reason is that the story telling is horrible and feuds do not really get the time to stew and become something rather big for the Superstars involved.

It seems that in an era where wins and losses do not matter has taken root the PPV's have become equally as worthless except for Royal Rumble, Wrestle Mania, Summer Slam, and Survivor Series. So I say let's cut it down to 6 PPV's per year the big 4 plus one each brand specific, that way feuds will have time to grow and each of the Brand specific will be just as big as the big 4. We can still have the Network specials of course, but having less PPV's will allow WWE to be more flexible with the shows and with story lines as well.

I have explained the shows that need to stay, the Big 4 PPV's all have major stakes on the line as well as traditions that are shown by their longevity and fan interest. This is something that WWE tries to cultivate with the other lesser PPV's and they fail miserably. One of the biggest reason is that there are really no stakes and the matches are all too predictable, plus the feuds have not had the time needed for the fans to get invested in them. Ask yourself this question, "Am I invested in this feud between Wrestler A vs Wrestler B?" If your answer is I don't know what the feud is about or No then the story has not been told properly, and there are holes in it.

We need to discard the crammed schedule of PPV's, it is too much for this writer to see and cover for my podcast, I have said it many times that story lines need to grow and breathe in order for the story to be truly told. If you think this is out of line and I have lost my ever loving mind that is fine. I truly believe that less would be more, meaning more compelling story lines, which will lead to more compelling matches, and matches with stakes, plus we can also have feuds no involving the title exclusively. This is one of the major problems here as well, WWE has their most talented roster in years however, there are so many Superstars that sit in catering week after week with nothing to do. That is a sad state of affairs. This is one way to address this issue is to limit the number of PPV's as well as the special events.

WWE has added 3 special events to the calendar for this year alone. The Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, The Super Show Down in Australia, and Evolution the first WWE All Women's Special. I think those will be enough to suffice that will move the total number to 9 PPV's/Special Events. Now comes the tricky part.

The remaining 2 PPV's should be something new and different as well as brand specific as long as the brands are separate. Sorry folks but MITB, TLC, Elimination Chamber, Backlash, Fast Lane, and Hell in a Cell should be discontinued. In my opinion these PPV's have outlived their usefulness and their no longer worthy of being a part of the schedule. Some of you maybe saying You can't get rid of these PPV's the fans will revolt!!!! Will they?? Will they really?? I don't think so, things change and it is time for a change.

I know change is not easy, but it is what is needed at this time. This will be a way to refresh the fans and the Wrestlers for that matter, they can have tours leading up to each of the PPV's that are brand specific, pushing the stories for that brand and drawing you in to watch them. Just an idea.

Please feel free to comment and give your opinions on this subject, I want to hear what you think I am sure this may hit you pretty hard if it does I am sorry for that, but like I said it is just my opinion
