Week nine of Lucha Underground’s fourth season will be featuring faction fighting as Worldwide Underground takes on the Reptile Tribe. In addition, the Gift of the Gods championship will be on the line in a battle between an Eagle Tribe member and a Moth Tribe member. Get ready for the action as it airs tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network.

If you missed last week’s show, catch up with the recap and reactions and a snazzy summary video from the Lucha Underground YouTube channel.

Here are three things I’ve got my eye on for this episode.

1. Everybody was Faction Fighting

Those luchadores were fast as lightning,
BASE jumping was a little bit frightening,
But they parkoured with expert timing.
There were slimy reptile men from smelly reptile town,
Taya was chopping them up,
Taya was chopping them down,
It’s an ancient Aztec art,
And Worldwide Underground knew their part.
Everybody was faction fighting.

By everybody, I’m referring to Worldwide Underground and the Reptile Tribe. Tonight is the night for their big four-on-four fight. Well, it is supposed to be four-on-four. More on that later. This feud has been brewing since the season premiere when Johnny Mundo eliminated Daga from Aztec Warfare 4.

Big stakes are on the line. If the Reptile Tribe wins, then Johnny Mundo has to pledge his allegiance to Kobra Moon. I can’t see that happening even if Worldwide Underground loses. Mundo will weasel out, somehow. He’ll probably make Ricky Mundo take his place. If Worldwide Underground wins, then Kobra Moon will grant Mundo a wish.

About that four-on-four, Vibora may be missing after having his head separated from his body last week. It made story sense but also seemed odd at the time. I’m questioning if it was a way to cover for an injury. After the match last week, Vampiro made a noise like he noticed something nasty when Vibora was kendo-lined out of the ring by Johnny Mundo and PJ Black. In the reptile lair scene to close the show, it appeared that Vibora was being careful not to use one of his arms while pummeling Mundo.

However, when analyzing the promo photo, it looks like Vibora’s arm is in the picture. Could Luchasaurus magically appear tonight?

Oh, in case you are wondering if Taya has any regret about chopping the head of Vibora, #Suckit #Sorrynotsorry #Snakekilla says it all.

2. Gift of the Gods Challenger

El Dragon Azteca Jr. has stated that he will defend his Gift of the Gods championship against anyone who thinks they are worthy. Assuming Azteca has long-term success, he will cash in at Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

Bring on the first challenger. Do do do do do bing.

Mariposa is up. That should be a pretty good match. Mariposa has the physicality, while Azteca has the finesse. Will her brother, Marty, be close by?

3. Could this be the end of Mala Suerte and Saltador?

Two Rabbit Tribe members had promo photos on Twitter this week. Mala Suerte and Saltador. It could be something or it could be nothing. I’m failing to think of a role if they do appear in the ring tonight. There is no reason for a trios match, other than the sake of random entertainment.

That caused the cogs to spin in my think-o-matic. The Rabbit Tribe has had zero success thus far this season. That can’t please the White Rabbit. Keeping in trend with weekly death, what if Mala Suerte and Saltador are the ones to pay the price. I enjoy their presence, but it isn’t like they are integral parts to the story.

Or what if they die, then are replaced by rabbits that look exactly like them. Parents do that with goldfish when they die to fool their kids. Do they do it with pet rabbits too? I probably couldn’t tell two similar rabbits apart. Maybe the replacement rabbits will have better wrestling skills.

Another theory is that Jake Strong will savagely collect some rabbit feet.

Strong!

Enjoy the show tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network. Which faction would you rather be in? What would you wish for from Kobra Moon? What would be your first task for Johnny Mundo after he pledges allegiance?
