New Japan Pro Wrestling Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-Jo Hall results: Okada vs. Omega IV, Naito vs. Jericho, and more

NJPW Global on Twitter

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) are back again and we’re onto our last big show before the G1 Climax. After this, it’s just a month of Kizuna Road shows and the G1 Special in San Francisco before we start the grind to Wrestle Kingdom 13. Like all of New Japan’s other major events, the show will be broadcast worldwide on New Japan's streaming service, NJPW World.

We'll have the standard match recommendation post later for those of us who can’t be up in the wee hours watching wrestling, but if you can, why not watch along with the best pro wrestling community on the internet?

Today’s action takes place in Osaka's Osaka-Jo Hall, kicking off at a ripe 3AM Eastern / 12AM Pacific, and features a slam-bang double main event of Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega in a 23 falls, no time limit rematch for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and Tetsuya Naito defending the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho.

Plus Will Ospreay defends the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Best of the Super Jr. 25 winner Hiromu Takahashi, the Young Bucks get their first heavyweight title shot against Los Ingobernables de Japon, and more!

Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) (c) over Roppongi 3K (SHO & YOH) by pinfall with a whiskey bottle to the head and a leg trap pinning predicament on SHO to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.

David Finlay & Juice Robinson over Chaos (“Switchblade” Jay White & YOSHI-HASHI) by pinfall with Pulp Friction from Robinson on White.

Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre, Jr.) over Chaos (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano) by submission with the no-hands version of Ode to Jim Breaks from Sabre on Yano.

After the match, Ishii attacks Suzuki and beats him down at ringside! Minoru evens the score, they paste each other with slaps, and the young lions have to pull them apart.

Michael Elgin over Hirooki Goto (c) and Taichi by pinfall with the Revolution Elgin Bomb on Taichi to win the NEVER Openweight Championship.

Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) over Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL & SANADA) (c) by pinfall with More Bang For Your Buck on SANADA to win the IWGP Tag Team Championship.

Bullet Club (Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page, & Marty Scurll) over Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jushin Liger, & Rey Mysterio, Jr. by pinfall with Cross Rhodes from Cody on Liger.

Hiromu Takahashi over Will Ospreay (c) by pinfall with Time Bomb to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Chris Jericho over Tetsuya Naito (c) by pinfall with a low blow and a Codebreaker to win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship.

Jericho, not content with his victory, attacks Naito after the match as well, whipping him with his belt until EVIL makes the save! The King of Darkness runs Y2J off with his own belt.

Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Kenny Omega (IWGP Heavyweight Championship 2⁄3 Falls No Time Limit Match)

-Okada wins the first fall by pinfall, reversing a Rainmaker reversal into a rana pin.

-Omega wins the second fall by pinfall with One-Winged Angel.

-Kenny Omega wins the third and deciding fall by pinfall with One-Winged Angel, winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship!

After the match, the Young Bucks come to the ring and Kenny makes a point of hugging them before even receiving the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Kota Ibushi joins the hug as well! Love and friendship win!

Omega cuts a show-closing promo in Japanese first before switching to English, saying every day people tell him he’s not the best, to play it safe, to stay calm and be tranquilo, but that’s not his way. He makes his own rules, lives life the way he wants, with his friends and lovers by his side, and that way he can do anything.

But alas, he’s tired, he almost died, and he must bid us adieu.

Before he can leave, Cody Rhodes comes back out, heads about halfway down the ramp before deciding he doesn’t want any part of this and leaving.

Enjoy the show!
