The Omega/Ibushi vs. Los Ingobernables main event of CEO x NJPW will drive Jim Cornette nuts

It was a busy night of wrestling on Fri. June 29, with Ring of Honor running a pay-per-view in Maryland while their partner promotion New Japan had a show in Daytona Beach, Florida at the CEO Fighting Game Championships.

The latter event, CEO x NJPW: When Worlds Collide!, streamed for free on Twitch. You can watch the full show in the embed above, or on Twitch’s site here. It’s supposed to be uploaded to NJPWWorld soon, too.

When Worlds Collide! is a bit of a tough watch. This seems to be part of Kenny Omega’s dream of bringing the gaming and wrestling fandoms together, but the production isn’t top notch and the announcers don’t really know what they’re watching, let alone how to comment on it. With the G1 tournament and New Japan’s next show in the United States both right around the corner, nothing of much consequence was going to occur.

But it’s got some fun matches, with a main event that really delivers while building out the ongoing Tetsuya Naito vs. Kenny Omega IWGP Heavyweight Title feud.

And it’s gonna drive Jim Cornette nuts.

Just that it features Golden Lovers Omega and Kota Ibushi, who in Corny’s mind are exposing the business with non-realistic moves even when they aren’t doing comedy bits that are even worse, is probably enough to send him over the top.

That it starts with Ibushi feigning a lock up with IWGP Junior Heavyweight Hiromu Takahashi’s best friend Daryl Jr. (who is a cat, and a stuffed animal)...

And builds to Golden Lovers working some tandem offense that had even Kenny and Kota supporters worried for their opponents’ health and well-being:

While we await some fiery tweets from Kentucky, here are the full results from CEO x NJPW: When Worlds Collide!:

  • Jushin Liger def. Rocky Romero via pinfall
  • The Guerrillas of Destiny def. Juice Robinson and David Finlay via pinfall
  • Jeff Cobb def. Chase Owens via pinfall
  • Dragon Lee and Ryusuke Taguchi def. Roppongi 3k via pinfall
  • Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi def. Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi via pinfall
