Rumor Roundup (June 22, 2018): Big Cass release, talk of Enzo Amore reunion, Ronda Rousey, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • WrestleVotes notes that Big Cass refused to rehearse a promo before doing it live on SmackDown and this upset Vince McMahon & Kevin Dunn, likely contributing to the decision to release him.
  • According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, independent promoters are already talking about trying to reunite Cass with Enzo Amore (as real1) on the indie scene.
  • The Observer notes that WWE has confirmed Ronda Rousey will be at Monday Night Raw in San Diego next week, though that doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be on TV. She has been pulled from upcoming Raw advertising for shows in Boston and Buffalo, however.
  • Per Dave Meltzer, WWE has had discussions about running a show in 2019 that would feature wrestlers from outside the company.
  • Toni Storm, Rhea Ripley, Mia Yim, and Mercedes Martinez were apparently played in a clip for the next Mae Young Classic at this week’s NXT TV tapings and are expected for the tournament.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it. And check our weekly Rumor Look Back here to keep track of how often rumors turn out to be correct!
