We’re headed towards the second of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s “big four” in Sakura Genesis, and that means only one thing— New Japan Cup!

A sixteen-man single elimination tournament spread across nine shows (check out the bracket and the schedule here), the winner earns a shot at a singles heavyweight-eligible title of his choice. All nine shows, naturally, will air live and in full on NJPW World, so why not watch along with the best pro wrestling community on the internet?

Today’s action takes place in Shizuoka’s Fujisan Messe, kicking off at a brisk 5:30AM Eastern / 2:30AM Pacific, and is headlined by two quarterfinal tournament matches, Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Bad Luck Fale and Michael Elgin vs. Juice Robinson, the winners of which will face off against each other in the semifinals on Friday, March 16.

Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) over Ryusuke Taguchi & Tetsuhiro Yagi by submission with the wrist-clutch Stretch Muffler from Desperado on Yagi.

David Finlay, Ren Narita, & Toa Henare over Shota Umino, Tomoyuki Oka, & Yuji Nagata by pinfall with a Samoan drop from Henare on Umino.

Killer Elite Squad (Davey Boy Smith, Jr. & Lance Archer) over Bullet Club (Tanga Loa & Yujiro Takahashi) by pinfall with Killer Bomb on Takahashi.

Chase Owens & Kota Ibushi over Suzuki-gun (TAKA Michinoku & Zack Sabre, Jr.) by pinfall with a package piledriver from Owens on Michinoku.

Chaos (Chuckie T, Tomohiro Ishii, & Toru Yano) over Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, SANADA, & Tetsuya Naito) by pinfall with a t-shirt-assisted inside cradle from Yano on BUSHI.

Chaos (Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada, & YOSHI-HASHI) over Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Taichi, & Takashi Iizuka) by submission with the cobra clutch from Okada on Iizuka.

Juice Robinson over Michael Elgin by pinfall, reversing the Elgin Bomb into a small package. (New Japan Cup 2018 Quarterfinal Match)

Hiroshi Tanahashi over Bad Luck Fale by countout after reversing Bad Luck Fall on the floor to put Fale into the barricade. (New Japan Cup 2018 Quarterfinal Match)

Enjoy the show!
