Week 6 of AAA’s Lucha Capital tournament is here to close out Stage 2. No official matches have yet to be announced, but the participants appear to be Murder Clown, Taurus, Laredo Kid, La Hiedra, Australian Suicide, Taya, Texano, and Psycho Clown.
(If you have previously read previews of past weeks, then I’ll save you some time. The next few paragraphs are roughly the same in case any new viewers jump aboard this week.)
The Lucha Capital tournament will span over eight consecutive Wednesdays at 8:30pm Mexico City time (9:30pm ET). The event is hosted at Pinche Gringo BBQ. Best of all, you can watch for free live on AAA’s Facebook page. If you can’t view live, don’t worry. The replay should be posted in short order.
The format awards points to match winners, but it is simpler to think of it as everyone gets two singles bouts during the first six weeks. Those with two wins will move on to the final evening. During week seven, those with one win will attempt to qualify for the finale.
The finale (Dec. 19) will have quarterfinals of three-ways with the winners moving on to singles bouts in the semifinals and final.
International talent comes from AAA, MAD, Elite, Impact, and Lucha Underground. In reality, most of them are pretty much AAA even if not officially recognized as such. The list of participants is Psycho Clown, Murder Clown, Pagano, Taurus, Pentagon Jr., Puma King, Vanilla Vargas, La Hiedra, Killer Kross, Hijo del Vikingo, Laredo Kid, Drago, Aerostar, Maximo, Lady Shani, Lady Maravilla, Fenix, Golden Magic, Texano Jr., Niño Hamburguesa, Australian Suicide, Taya, Mascarita Sagrada, and Keyra.

Let’s preview tonight’s action as best we can.
From the eight on the poster, Psycho Clown, Laredo Kid, Australian Suicide, and Texano all have one victory each. A second win tonight automatically advances them to the finale. Taurus, Murder Clown, La Hierda, and Taya all lost their first matchup. A second loss means elimination. A win grants them passage to next week’s last chance wild card round for an opportunity to participate in the finale.
I’ll be rooting for both Taurus and Taya tonight. They better not put them together. That would be a guarantee that one is being eliminated. Taurus vs Murder Clown would be a scintillating hoss fight. Count me in for that.
Which matchups would you like to see tonight?
Speaking of Taya, she is already in Mexico kicking it with Fenix. If you ever wondered what the top of his head looks like, here you go.
Will the Killer Smoke Show appear tonight?
No, not likely. Especially since Killer Kross appears to be in Reykjavik, Iceland.
That would be one heck of a swerve if Kross falsified his tweets. Even if Kross doesn’t show up tonight, he still has a message.

Tell them I’ve come to collect the borrowed time they’ve all been living off of.

Two wins gets a luchador into the finale. One win sends them to the wild card round.
- Advanced to the finale: Lady Shani, Pagano, Pentagon Junior
- Advanced to Week 7 Wild Card: Aerostar, Drago, Hijo del Vikingo, Keyra, Killer Kross, Mascarita Sagrada, Maximo, Vanilla
- Eliminated: Fenix (injury), Golden Magic, Lady Maravilla, Niño Hamburguesa, Puma King
The finale is supposed to be four three-ways then the semis and finals, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that plan has been scrapped. I can’t crunch the possibilities for how they will smoothly end up with twelve luchadores for the finale. The best I can figure is two advance tonight and four move on to next week. Next week would have twelve luchadores, which means six could advance. That makes the total eleven. I suppose a loser battle royal could determine the final slot. If that is the plan, then next week’s show is going to be very long.
Australian Suicide defeated Laredo Kid via flying awesomeness. Super exciting match. Australian Suicide advances to the finale with his second win.
Golden Magic defeated Niño Hamburguesa via 450 splash. Both of these luchadores were previously eliminated. They received a third chance. Rules don’t matter in AAA tournaments.
Taya defeated La Hiedra after a Code Breaker then a face smash suplex. La Hiedra is eliminated.
Psycho Clown defeated Texano via fancy roll-up after a backcracker. Psycho Clown advances to the finale with his second victory.
Bonus match: Chessman defeated Bengala via powerbomb after blocking and countering a headscissors.
