The Nightly: December 14th, 2018

Hello Nightly!!!

It’s time for a Skywalker PPV, and I’m not talking Star Wars!

Tonightly, we’ll be talking about Starrcade 1986. The event is probably best known for the Skywalker/scaffold match between the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors, and it was a pretty solid match, but it also summed up the event in a nutshell, along with the Rock and Roll Express vs. Ole and Arn Anderson, the event as a whole is just kind of boring. There’s just not much to it. Even with a First Blood Match like Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard, it still had a lot of stalling. And Jimmy Garvin vs. Brad Armstrong was just nothing but Rest holds. And the main event of Nikita Koloff and Ric Flair left a lot to be desired, though the finish kind of made sense as I assume they wanted to protect both champions with a non finish like that.

Overall, while not awful, Starrcade ‘86 is quite underwhelming. A big step down from Starrcade ‘85.

On to the Nightly.
