AAA Guerra de Titanes preview and predictions

AAA’s latest big event is coming at you on Sunday, Dec. 2 from Aguascalientes. Guerra de Titanes will feature at least four championship matches and a killer main event. You can view the show live for free on AAA’s Twitch channel at 6pm Mexico City time (7pm ET). Another option is to pay five bucks to subscribe and watch on-demand. Or just wait six months or so when AAA puts it on their weekly TV show, Gira de Conquista.

Lucha Libre AAA

As is usual, AAA’s TV timeline is months away from matching real life time. I’ll have to piece the details together as best I can. Thankfully, most of the stories seem to be carry-overs from Héroes Inmortales XII five weeks ago.

Dr. Wagner Jr. & Psycho Clown vs Blue Demon Jr. & Killer Kross

Lucha Libre AAA

Dr. Wagner Jr. and Blue Demon Jr. have beef stemming from Héroes Inmortales XII. Blue Demon whacked Wagner with a chair in Wagner’s hair vs hair match against Jeff Jarrett. I’m not sure why Blue Demon turned on Wagner. This is wrestling, so the reason probably isn’t too complicated. I would guess jealousy or a perceived slight.

As for Psycho Clown and Killer Kross being in the match, why not? Psycho Clown is AAA’s biggest babyface at the moment. Blue Demon is pals with Jeff Jarrett, who is associated with MAD, who uses Killer Kross as their muscle. Psycho and Kross were also two of four participants in the Domo de la Muerte match at Héroes Inmortales XII. Perhaps they have something to settle as well.

If you are hoping for Jeff Jarrett to show up, don’t count on it. He is busy as special referee for the ICW match of Grado against James Storm in Glasgow, Scotland. Enjoy this photo of Jarrett with a dog. I hope that soothes the pain, slapnuts.

DDB Nashville

Prediction: I think the bad guys will win. More specifically, Blue Demon will pin Wagner. That seems like a better way to keep the story steamy. Although, I suppose it doesn’t matter much if the plan is to keep this feud going another nine months to blow off at Triplemania XXVII in August 2019.

AAA Megacampeonato: Fenix vs Brian Cage

The Megacampeonato match is 99% not going to happen. Fenix has a groin injury. He was wheelchair bound this past Wednesday at AAA’s Lucha Capital tournament. Fenix has now held the Mega Championship for 95 days without a single title defense.

The number one contender status of Cage seems to be an interesting story. Konnan ordered Los Mercenarios to attack a then-heel Cage. Cage flipped to a face and somehow earned the top spot to challenge Fenix. I wonder if Cage was supposed to win the Mega Championship Sunday night. It seems weird to turn Cage to the good side if he is going to go on and lose to Fenix right away.

Don’t be shocked if Cage is squeezed into the main event to make it a trios bout. If so, then a Cage vs Kross showdown would be money.

Prediction: Pain. Someone will pay that price, and the F’ing Machine is ready to collect.

AAA Campeonato Latinoamericano: Hijo del Fantasma vs Drago

Hijo del Fantasma won the Latin American Championship from Johnny Mundo at Héroes Inmortales XI. I’ve never seen Fantasma defend the belt. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has only had two or three title matches so far in his 423 day reign.

I believe that Drago earned a title shot after pinning Fantasma in trios action.

Prediction: A cool match. I assume Drago has wrestled King Cuerno in Lucha Underground, so this match should be no different in quality. Ah, yes. They had a feud in season one. I’m hoping Sunday’s bout stays more lucha libre than brawling. Fantasma will retain in either style.

Lucha Extrema para el AAA Campeonato de Parejas: Texano Jr. & Rey Escorpion vs Pagano & Joe Lider vs Ciclope & Medio Extremo

Lucha Libre AAA

Texano and Rey Escorpion have been tag team champs for 248 days. The story of the match is more between the two challenging teams. Ciclope and Medio Extremo attacked Pagano at Héroes Inmortales XII.

Expect insanity. Triplemania XXVI had a flaming table spot from Pagano. Pagano and one of his nemeses crashed through a barbwire table recently. This extreme rules match will not be for the squeamish.

Prediction: Texano and Rey Escorpion will remain tag champs. I think the other four will beat each other up so bad that the Mercenarios can capitalize at the right time. I also predict Vampiro will get a stiffy at Pagano’s extreme tactics.

La Mascara, Taurus, & La Parka Negra vs Mamba, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Maximo

This story revolves around La Mascara ditching his family member Maximo over a lack of taking wrestling serious. Mascara wanted to focus on winning, while Maximo wanted to party with his exotico buddies. Mascara decided to join Los Mercenarios, who took their frustrations out on Maximo.

Prediction: Rudos delight. I just want to see Taurus kick butt in victory.

AAA Campeonato de Tercias: Poder del Norte vs Laredo Kid, Angelikal, & Hijo del Vikingo

Lucha Libre AAA

Tito Santana, Mocho Cota Jr., and Carta Brava Jr. have been Trios champs for 306 days in this current run. The young guys threw out a challenge. Challenge accepted.

Prediction: The best match of the night. Laredo Kid, Angelikal, and Hijo del Vikingo are all supreme high-flyers. Poder del Norte utilize fantastic teamwork. They are often a treat to watch if you enjoy teams that wrestle like an actual team. I think their experience together as a unit will be too much for the challengers to overcome. Poder del Norte will retain.

AAA Campeonato Reina de Reinas: Faby Apache vs Lady Shani vs Keyra vs La Hiedra vs Scarlett Bordeaux

Lucha Libre AAA

Faby Apache and Lady Shani have been feuding for over one year. Faby won the Reina de Reinas Championship from Shani at Héroes Inmortales XI and has held on tight for 306 days. Unfortunately, Faby couldn’t hold onto her hair. Shani shaved Faby bald after winning mask vs hair at Triplemania XXVI.

One thing to keep an eye on is the Killer Smoke Show. Scarlett Bordeaux hitched up to Killer Kross as a lucha libre power couple for a reason. Expect them to share the screen together. The question is if it will be one-sided (Bordeaux hanging around Kross’ matches) or two-sided (Kross returning the favor).

Prediction: I think this is the night that Lady Shani becomes undisputed queen of the women’s division. Her win over Faby at Triplemania was impressive, but Faby is still champ. Shani can finally close the door on that feud by dethroning the Apache.

Will you be tuning in to Twitch to watch Guerra de Titanes? Which matches stick out most to you? Who are you picking to win? How many moonsaults will happen throughout the event?
