Week seventeen of Lucha Underground’s fourth season will have the long-awaited in-ring debut of the White Rabbit. There is also supposed to be champion and challenger meeting in the ring for a conversation, but photos show an odd situation arising. Get ready for the action as it airs tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network.
If you missed last week’s show, catch up with the recap and reactions, Tope 10, and a snazzy summary video from the Lucha Underground YouTube channel.
Here are three things I’ve got my eye on for this episode.
1. Fighting in the Moth Tribe?
Things get complicated in the world of new @LuchaElRey Champion Marty The Moth! Hmm, how about that photo? It appears that Marty Martinez and Mariposa will have another sibling squabble. I was not expecting those two to be fighting after the Moth Tribe now has the Lucha Underground Championship. I wonder what triggered the encounter. Could it be jealousy over Marty’s new lady friend?
There is also the possibility that it is an elaborate set-up. I doubt both Marty and Pentagon DARK don’t wrestle at all until the main event of Ultima Lucha Cuatro. Could there be a mixed tag double-cross in our near future? Or maybe Pentagon breaks Mariposa’s arm tonight just because he is mean and nasty.
We should also get information about that lady in black (Chelsea Green). As it stands right now, we don’t know anything about her, such as her name or how they met. I just checked one of my favorite Lucha Underground GIFs and she was not present.

2. The White Rabbit in action
TICK TOCK! The Rabbit Tribe - The White Rabbit, Paul London & El Bunny (translates to The Bunny) will be in trios action vs Ivelisse, Joey Ryan & XO Lishus! The all-new @LuchaElRey WEDNESDAY 8p ET @ElReyNetwork! #luchaunderground #luchalibre #prowrestling #wrestling #elreyallday pic.twitter.com/ksXTKjpcSm

No, that’s not the White Rabbit in that photo. It is El Bunny, and he looks hungry.
The Rabbit Tribe is advertised to wrestle the trio of Ivelisse, Joey Ryan, and XO Lishus. (That threesome needs a team name. Any ideas?) This will be the first time we see the White Rabbit wrestle. In other worlds, he is known as Killer Kross. Expect powerful destruction and to tick Joey Ryan’s tock.
If Ivelisse, Joey Ryan, and XO Lishus lose again, their prospects as a team would not appear bright. It is not like there is a full trios division for them to build cohesion and work their way to another title shot.
3. Ex-partners go one-on-one
The episode blurb mentioned Killshot and Son of Havoc wrestling each other. Killshot has held a grudge all season long against Son of Havoc, because Havoc was the one to replace an absent Dante Fox as one-third of a championship team with Mack.
It will be interesting to see if this will be a full match or a step to something grander. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a mask vs mask bout at Ultima Lucha Cuatro. So, I guess the question for tonight becomes how will they ratchet up the feud to warrant a showdown at the finale, if that is the plan.
Bonus stuff. Yeah!
Last month after the Lucha Underground wedding, a podcast episode of Mats, Masks & Mayhem had executive producer Eric Van Wagenen as a guest. His part is from the 31 minute mark to the 50 minute mark, then talk about his work on the boxing show Contender, then back to more Lucha Underground discussion at 1:17 to 1:30. The second portion touches on Pentagon and offers from WWE.
It was more of a friendly chat than an in-depth interview. Some interesting tidbits were:
- The Johnny Mundo and Taya wedding had over an hour of live footage cut down to 12 minutes. The tacos were hard shell and without meat.
- Matt Striker brought XO Lishus to their attention.
- There were unanticipated visa difficulties for new talent. Lots of visas came in three weeks after taping the season completed.
- The current ice temple might be torn down in real life.
- Dante Fox was healing an injury and given the okay before the tapings finished.
The whole conversation was interesting. Give it a listen if you have the time.
Enjoy the show tonight at 8pm ET on El Rey Network.
